Re: Being Made of Gold Must Be Nice.

Golden followed Hay to the kitchen, giving looks at the
grumbling machines they passed by. Once they reached the
kitchen, Golden was slightly surprised to see what condition it
was in. Even her kitchen looked more like a kitchen that this,
which surprised her a lot. She accepted the offered carton and
cup from Hay with her magic. When offered some cookies to go
with them, Golden hesitated a bit, before saying "Sure... As
long as they don't have any hot sauce in them...".
After pouring herself a cup of milk, Golden turned to Hay and
asked "Why are the machines here so... "Unfriendly"...? Are they
always like this?"

"Hmm... I'll have to check the package to see if they have hot
sauce in them..." Hay said, taking what Golden said as an actual
concern before turning to the lower cupboards in his kitchen and
literally crawling inside them to search for the cookies he
believed he still had stowed away somewhere. At her question,
Golden could hear his voice enter from inside the cupboard.
"Oh... Uh... I wouldn't call them 'unfriendly', just, um... slow
to warm up to new ponies? And... not so new ponies. They just
like playing a few jokes here and there. I don't think they're
trying to actually be unfreindly though... they just like
pranks. I think." After a few seconds of searching, Hay returned
from his expedition with a small package of cookies in his
teeth, the pony tearing it open then balancing it on his back
before trotting back to Golden to allow her to take a few for
herself. A thought crossed his mind where Hay wondered if Star
would want some too, so he kept the package with him as he began
to walk towards the table with the Thought Theatre.
"You can go ahead and bring the carton back with you if you
wanna or still need to. I'm not really worried about any
accidents where somepony spills around here." He paused, then
took a moment to go back and get a second cup for Star in case
she would want some milk with the cookies as well. "Actuawy, coo
yuh bwig ih awyway, pweah? Tank yuh!" he asked from around the
cup in his teeth before tossing it onto the package of cookies
and continuing onward.
Upon reaching the table again, Hay dropped the package onto its
surface, along with the cup before grinning over to Star, "Hey,
Star! I figured Golden could use some cookies with her milk so I
dug this out, but I wanted to check and see if you'd want some
too before I put it away."

Golden raised her eyebrow, not sure if Hay was joking about the
hot sauce or not. "They seem pretty... Angry, if you ask me, but
then again, that is my first impression of them..." Golden was
thinking what she could ask Hay to invent for her, if the
inventions would only prank her all the time. She would have to
ask about that at some point. When Hay returned with some
cookies, Golden grabbed couple of them with her magic, from the
looks of them, they seemed to be chocolate chip cookies.
Golden was first about to say that she would stay there and
finish the milk and cookies in the kitchen, but was then asked
to bring the milk to the workshop with her. She shrugged, having
been told that possible spills are not a problem, Golden picked
the cookies, her cup and the carton with her and followed Hay to
the table with the TT. She set the carton down on the table, and
sat down herself, having a small inner struggle whether or not
she should dip the cookies in the milk.

Star snapped out of her thoughts when Haywire came back sporting
cookies, returning the stallion's grin with an easy smile of her
own. "You're very thoughtful, Hay," Star said in response to
him, earning him a gentle nuzzle to his shoulder before she
said, "But I'll pass on the offer. I'm not all that interested
in cookies right now." After asking that, she glanced over to
the milk and turned it slightly so she could check the
expiration date, knowing Hay's penchant for being a little
absent-minded sometimes...

Hay blushed lightly at the nuzzle, him sitting down and looking
back to the cookies with a bashful smile before reaching for one
himself and nibbling. Wondering if Star just didn't like cookies
- something Haywire found a very difficult thing to wrap his
mind around or wasn't interested for another reason, Haywire
asked her, "Something on your mind?" but was keeping his eyes on
the cookies as the heat in his cheeks slowly subsided.
Bubo hopped down to the table from Star's shoulder just as she
would have most likely noticed that the carton of milk, while
not fresh from the store, read that it was not yet expired, but
its date also made it clear that getting rid of it sooner rather
than later would probably be a wise decision. With how quiet the
machines around them seemed t have gotten, Bubo decided to stop
his watch and make his way over to the cookies himself, pecking
at one and once again, like with all other food, not
understanding the appeal. This drop of his guard however was
something the machines had apparently been waiting for as a mish
mash of shapes and doodads behind Star forming a taller tower of
metal that had an unusual purpose at best served as the cliff
for which a smaller little machine about the size and shape of a
cue ball fell from, a silent little propeller installed into
it's top allowing it to slow down its decent without making
enough noise to be detected. It slowly descended behind Star,
trying its best to sneak up on the mare without alerting her.

Satisfied after seeing that the milk hadn't quite gone bad yet,
Star left the milk alone and looked back over to Haywire at his
question of if something was on her mind, earning a slight shrug
in response. "There are a couple things, but they're something
we'll have to talk about later alone when we have the
opportunity." As she spoke, she was completely oblivious to the
cue ball device sneaking up on her.

Haywire wondered what Star wanted to talk about later, Hay
figuring it probably had something to do with the Thought
Theatre as he took another nibble off of his cookie just as the
thingie floating down reached the mare. Killing its propeller
just above the mare's shoulders, the cue ball fell about a half
a foot down and onto the mare, not having the distance or the
weight to harm but instead striking her shoulder similar to a
pony suddenly dropping their hoof down on it to startle her.
Sounding a loud shriek the moment it connected that caused Hay
to drop his cookie with a small jump, the thingamajiggie also
shot out small puffs of confetti and several party streamers
from a number of compartments scattered across itself to both
toss sudden color out for the mare to react to and also possibly
have it get tangled in her mane for their own funsies.
Not exactly their best prank or whatever they would call it, but
to the machines it would serve well enough to them as a way of
telling Star to be on her guard round these parts after having
attempted to tell them what to do.

Still oblivious to the device sneaking up on her, Star sat
patiently as she waited for... anything, really. She wasn't in
any particular rush, and was fine relaxing as the two other
ponies ate their cookies. Some music wouldn't have been bad, but
she wasn't going to complain either. The shop's peace was soon
shattered however, as the moment the device struck her shoulder
and let out the loud shriek, Star let out a shriek of her own,
somehow even louder than the device's. As she did this, she
jumped a foot or so in the air before collapsing on the floor
against Hay, trembling violently as she hyperventilated there on
the floor, hooves covering her face as if to protect her from
something.

The machines sure did seem to be getting more active, all that
time chatting amongst themselves apparently having led to a few
ideas Hay figured. While he'd only really been given a start at
the device's shriek, Star's had made him wince and pin back his
ears, Haywire looking down at the mare trembling against him he
wore a concerned expression. Wow, she really didn't seem to
enjoy being startled, much to the machines collective delight as
they chuckled over the strong reaction to their quickly thrown
together jumpscare.
Hay frowned. She was shaking... and he could tell she was
breathing pretty fast as she covered her face. Hay easily
deduced that this wasn't funny as any normal pony would, him
tossing a confused look at the machines and their laughing
before looking back to Star with worry...
"S-Star?" he spoke, concern in his voice as he lowered his head
down to the mare a bit, "A-are you okay?"

The sudden loud noice caused Golden to accidentally and quite
violently crush the cookie she was holding with her magic, and
made her recoil back from the table, causing the cup of milk to
topple over and spill on the table. Golden wore a bit shocked
expression as she looked at the direction of the voice. Seeing
the outcome, she remained silent, and was somewhat ready to
react to any other "prank" she could spot happening.
