The Windigo Tourney

This is more of a small arc application or something... But
these guys do need to be approved so...
Also, blegh, I was tired when I wrote this...
The Windigo Tourney was first started centuries ago under a
different name and with a very different goal and spirit
compared to its current incarnation. Currently, its a bi-annual
tournament that varies in location, traveling the country and
inviting any who believe themselves up to the challenge to sign
up. This martial tournament has begun to lean more towards an
entertainment light in recent years with ponies often giving
themselves elaborate fake backstories and gimmicks as they try
their hooves at possibly earning a spot as one of the rather
famous career combatants that attend every tournament and draw
in the fans that sell out seats and contribute to the
substantial prize money for anypony lucky enough to make it into
the top slots.

Name: Sir Providence
Gender: Male
Race: Unicorn
Age: Unknown
Appearance: Mane and coat color are purposefully kept a secret,
a full body suit underneath heavy armor (the color of which
varies between white, gray, gold and black) concealing his
identity as every part of him, including his face and even his
horn under a helmet made with special materials meant to allow
the free flowing of magic, is hidden. His magic, though believed
by some to not naturally be and in actuality is under some form
of spell to appear so, is red.
Bio: While most of the other famous competitors in the tourney
all have some form of supposedly amazing or outlandish history
and background, Sir Providence is kept more low key, the long
reigning champion of the tournament being kept more shrouded in
mystery than with an overblown persona. Nothing about the
stallion, not even if he has actually been knighted by the
princess in the past or if "Providence" is indeed his real name,
has ever been proven.
Some more dedicated, and extreme, fans of the event have gone as
far as to theorize that "Sir Providence" is more a character
than an actual legitimate combatant. Rumors of how many unicorns
have played the part over the years are not uncommon, but those
who witness the champion in action cannot question his powerful
presence or how impressive he is in combat.
Extra: Current and very long reigning Windigo champion. Is
undefeated with a winning streak stretching as long as his
entire career as far as anypony knows.

Name: Frigid Lance
Gender: Male
Race: Unicorn
Age: Mid-Thirties
Appearance: Lance wears a cool blue coat with a white mane, eyes
of such a light blue as to almost be white as well. His cutie
mark is an oval of ice containing a lance frozen within. While
usually entering the arena with nothing but the fur on his back,
Lance, when in combat, is capable of conjuring a full suit of
magically reinforced plates of ice to protect himself. His
magic, as is fitting for his persona, is a cold blue.
Bio: Lance is supposedly a cursed warrior who's personality is
as cold as the ice he manipulates in his magic. Truly a sight to
see when he goes about using his magic to turn a landscape into
a frozen battlefield, Lance is actually a relatively new pony to
make it to the tournament, though his skill and interesting
strategies have quickly allowed him to cement a place for
himself as a regular combatant that fans cheer for. Armed with,
of course, a lance, this stallion is building himself an
intimidating reputation that is occasionally enough to make less
experienced fighters drop out of the tournament entirely should
they see themselves listed as his next opponent.
Extra: Is believed by fans to have a good chance at someday
becoming champion. Is, on rare occassions when its demanded by
the fans, paired with Tempest for team matches, or, one even
rarer occasions, paired with both Tempest and Tazer.

Name: Tazer Blade
Gender: Male
Race: Pegasus
Age: Late-Twenties
Appearance: always grinning, always seeming jittery and charged
up, Tazer has an electric blue mane and tail that match his eyes
and a light red-orange coat. His cutie mark is a curved blade
arcing with electricity, and when he goes to fight he brings
nothing but his sword, the idea of armor being silly to him as
it would only slow him down.
Bio: Struck by lightning eight separate times in his years,
survives solely on static electricity, is the self proclaimed
fastest creature to ever exist, and many more outrageous
mentions decorate Tazer's backstory, his being one of the more
ridiculous to ever be claimed as true in the history of the
tourney. Most take everything he says with a grain of salt,
however one thing is definitely one hundred percent true.
Tazer could very well be one of the fastest and most skilled
duelists in Equestria. Though his background is full of wild
claims, his speed and skill with a blade is something most can't
believe unless they've been lucky enough not to blink when the
chance to see it for themselves presents itself. Take this skill
and add in incredible agility and dexterity then top it all off
with the fact that his sword is enchanted to be just as
electrifying as his name would make one assume, and you have one
of the most popular and accomplished ponies to ever sign up for
the tournament.
Extra: Blade is enchanted to give electric shocks, something
Tazer is either immune to himself or doesn't mind. Is sometimes
paired with Lance and Tempest for rare team matches.

Name: Tempest Squall
Gender: Male
Race: unicorn
Age: Late-Forties
Appearance: A light cuirass of slick scalemail is worn by this
dull-green coated and blackish-purple maned stallion. Often seen
soaked beneath rain, Tempest blends in well with a dark and
stormy day. His cutie mark is a vortex of wind.
Bio: If Tazer is lightning and Lance is rain, Tempest is wind.
With magic focused around creating a swirling storm of violent
gusts and biting torrents of air, Tempest is one of the more
veteran competitors within the tournament, though with an
illness that is causing him to fall from his prime even faster
than his age already is, he is not the untouchable stallion
capable of running circles around his opponents that he used to
be.
Like Sir Providence, Tempest has little in the way of a
fantastic story to tell when it comes to how he came to be who
he is, but he also lacks the mystery that surrounds the champion
and because of this he isn't as popular among the younger
audiences that now attend the tournaments. However, despite his
growing weaknesses, Tempest is still capable of holding his own
against the hot blooded new fighters that are looking to pass
him by in their quest to climb the Windigo ladder, and nopony in
their right minds can ignore his abilities.
Extra: Is a master at wielding a whip and wind magic. Is
occasionally paired with Lance for team matches, and even more
rarely both Lance and Tazer.

Name: Orion Fire
Gender: Male
Race: Pegasus
Age: Early-Twenties
Appearance: Yellow coat with a fiery red and spiky mane, Orion
carries himself like a cocky entertainer more than a serious
warrior. Ruby adorned bracelets are worn on each of his front
legs, and he has light padded armor which he wears in matches.
His cutie mark is an arrow shooting through a ring of fire.
Bio: Orion is, to be blunt about it, the perfect example of the
"new" Windigo fighter. Having joined for fame and fame alone,
his backstory borders almost on blasphemy as he claims to be
involved with some kind of fire god that has chosen him as its
champion. With far more of a focus on theatrics than most of the
other combatants combined(a possible exception being made with
Tazer when the other pegasus decides he wants to play with his
opponents rather than end a fight quickly) Orion is,
unfortunately, one of the most popular combatants in the
tournament today. The older vets grumble about him while the
children in the audience are awed by his flashy tricks he
performs with his fire enchanced bow and arrows or even the
flashy twirls he can do with his dagger. The former is ignored
by the archer, while the latter only fuels his burning desire
for attention.
Extra: Despite his annoying love of having ponies cheer his
name, Orion was in fact an accomplished ranger with experience
in patrolling dangerous portions of Equestrias wilderness in the
years before his joining the Windigo Tourney.

Name: Temblor Quake
Gender: Female
Age: Mid-Twenties
Race: Earth Pony
Appearance: Larger than the average stallion, this orange coated
and brown maned mare is the newest pony to make it into the
ranks of the regulars. Wearing only a few pieces of bronze armor
on her legs and chest, the only other piece of equipment Temblor
brings with her into whatever arena she finds herself in is a
massive earth shattering maul with a head larger than any
ponies. Her cutie mark is what looks like an exploding boulder.
Bio: With no wings or easy access to spells to help her, Temblor
fought tooth and nail to get where she is, earning every inch as
she worked her flank off to show her skills and improve her
natural abilities to incredible heights. Strong enough to buck
solid rock, tough enough to hold her ground against a charging
bull, and willing to put her very life on the line to prove
herself, the only drawback(in Temblor's eyes at least) are the
light enchantments on her hammer for directly damaging the earth
around her. While having no affect on ponies - it not exactly
being needed considering the strength behind every swing anyway
- it does allow for her to loosen up the ground beneath both her
and her opponent's hooves where her strength can then take over
for some heavy lifting.
Extra: Being so new, Temblor has no fancy or silly story for her
background yet, though its rumored her real one may actually be
legitimately fantastic without change.
