Brash slowly pulls her head away from Dais as he talks, "You do
remember when I asked you to simplify your speech, right? 'cause
I'm not willing to waste my thinking time on decoding whatever
it is you just said."
"And the only definition of friend I know that doesn't include
an exchange of service, is to be a contact of which one is
familiar with. That would take more than a day however." Brash
brings another muffin to her mouth and this time takes a small
nibble as she turns her snout up.

Dais facehoofed. "Alright then. In simple terms." he said, a
little exasperated "When two ponies like each other, that makes
them friends. Friends are ponies who just like each other no
matter what, and who will always stand by the other pony's side.
So you can't sell or buy friendship from somepony - you can buy
alliance, but not friendship. True friends don't care about what
you pay them, or how long you have hung out with them - true
friends will always like each other, as I said, no matter what.
What that poet was saying - in simple terms - is that it does
not matter how much power, or how much money a pony has - all
that matters is their friendship, because regardless of their
power, their heart is more powerful still. For more information,
read these."
Dais waved his horn, and a large stack of thick books appeared
on the table. "That should give you a basic overview" he
concluded "I recommend this one for starters."
He passed over a copy of Friendship For Foals.

Brash takes the book, skepticism in her eyes. "Hopefully these
books can teach me more than you have." Brash flips open the
book and skims over the contents without really paying
attention. She slams the book shut, "I'd prefer to read in a
safer location however." She sets the book down and finishes her
muffin.

Dais raised an eyebrow. "A safer location?" he asked "Safe from
what?"

"Interruptions, you know, loud or constant noises, passing
curious ponies, odd scents and the like. I may retain what I
read well, but I fear I'm prone to distraction." Simply an
excuse to leave the bakery without ditching Dais, Brash waits
for her answer.

Dais shrugged a little, ate another strawberry, then continued.
"Well I do know this one place..." he said cunningly "It's just
on the outskirts of Manehatten, and they lock you up in a room
w... I mean, um, they provide you with a comfortable, totally
isolated personal chamber where you can read books about
friendship to your heart's content. It's completely free of
interruptions, no odd scents, no passing curious ponies, no
noises other than your own. There's no way you can be distracted
there! And you can stay for as long as you need to learn how to
be a good friend. They provide you with sumptuous meals, lots of
personal freedom... it's pretty great."
Concluding, Dais rolled his eyes theatrically "Or I guess we
could just go back to the boring old park."

Brash glares at Dias as he suggests moving her, "So you don't
want me around is that it?" Brash stows her muffin box on her
head, "I'm certain now you're trying to confuse me with this
friendship malarkey to send me away!" Brash hops down strolling
towards the door, "I commend you for getting this far, but
you'll have to remove me by force."

"As you wish then" smiled Dais, putting his hooves up and
popping another chocolate strawberry into his mouth "We'll stay
right here. See, I knew you didn't really want to go anywhere
else."

"I do hope you're speaking of your little Manehattan joke."
Brash says as she slows down, "But if you'd bring the books I
still would enjoy a different reading environment."

"I'm not going to take you anywhere if I have to remove you by
force" giggled Dais, tossing another strawberry into his mouth
"I told you, all I want is for you to be my friend. That's not
really too much to ask, I think. So don't accuse me of just
wanting to get rid of you, alright? Anyway, just let me finish
up these strawberries, and then we can go back to the park. I
usually find that's a great place to read stuff. I've got some
reading to do myself. Do sit back down, won't you? It's a bit
rude to leave the table before everypony has finished."
