"'Still be', what you should've said is 'could become'. A puddle
of water wouldn't 'still be' ice were it to get cold, it 'could
become' ice though. Just as you said we could still be friends
would imply we were prior to that engagement, when really you
must've meant we could still become friends."
"Also, next time I make a joke I expect laughter, not for you to
take it seriously." Brash's nearly monotone speaking would make
it difficult to differentiate between joking and serious talk.
"As always my behavior will reflect my mood, so make sure my
escape routes are not blocked."

"Please tell me you've studied adverbs" replied Dais with a
smile "Still is a modifier for can in that sentence, so can
still in that context means that it is still possible. I suppose
if I can't be sure you'll behave then we should probably go
somewhere more suitable..."
A burst of magic later, and Brash and Dais were standing outside
Sugarcube Corner.
"Here we are" said Dais "Decent food and lots of escape routes.
Come on in, I'll buy you whatever you want."

"I only study that which I plan to make use of, knowledge only
becomes power when there's intention to use said knowledge. So
no, I don't study fancy word stuff, and maybe you should
simplify your speaking so anypony can understand."
Brash stiffened at the sight of Sugarcube Corner. If the rumors
were true there laid a particularly high chance she'd run into
Pinkie Pie. A rumored source of happiness within the town, which
of course must mean she's both annoying and has most everypony
on her side. This makes her a threat towards Brash's ultimate
goal.
"I will only dine here on the condition that I have permission
to use your person as a weapon should danger approach."

Dais giggled softly to himself. "I like to learn about
everything" he said "You never know when you might use it -
sometimes even when you don't intend to use it, it still comes
up. Knowledge truly becomes power when it is actually utilized,
not when it is intended to be utilized. If you had known about
parts of speech, perhaps I wouldn't have been so offended? This
is why learning about parts of speech is so important."
With that, Dais trotted inside the candy-coated building. "See,
there's no dangers here! You won't need to use my person as a
weapon at all - though of course if danger did strike, then I'd
be obliged to protect everypony. It's a government official
thing. Lighten up, Brash! You shouldn't be so demanding, after
all I'm trying to give you a gift here."

Of course Pinkie wouldn't be seen as a threat by others, so
Brash prepared mentally to take things into her own hooves. So
as Brash enters the place she scans the area quickly. "I can't
go accepting gifts that are a danger to me now can I?"
Brash darts ahead and chooses a table beside a window, taking a
seat. "I'm sure this place has banana muffins, get me a dozen of
those."

Dais laughed a little again. "It's fine, Brash, just relax. You
aren't in any danger, and even if you were, it's no reason to
make demands. I once heard a wise pony say - quite recently in
fact - that it's not action that matters, but intention. I think
it's pretty clear what my intention here is. Anyway..."
With that, Dais turned towards the counter, and pressed a little
bell to call Mrs Cake out. Before long, Dais returned to the
table with a small box of a dozen banana muffins, and some
strawberries with chocolate dipping sauce for himself. "Dig in!"
he said, magically levitating the box of muffins over to Brash.

Brash, not really knowing what to make of Dais's words, chooses
to ignore him. Flipping her box of muffins open she begins to
devour them with a low growl.
((Been really busy but still wanted to post something. Things
should clear up by Tuesday.))

((no problem :) ))
Dais magically picked up a strawberry, dipped it and took an
very small, measured bite. He tasted it curiously before
swallowing.
"Hmmm... never had chocolate before" remarked Dais "They say
it's supposed to be poisonous to ponies if you eat a lot so I've
always avoided it, but it tastes pretty good. So anyway... ummm,
you know... are we friends yet?"

"Poisonous? If it was poison ponies wouldn't make fountains for
the stuff. Somepony must've been trying to call you fat." Brash
claims before mutilating another banana muffin.
The question of whether they're friends now brings Brash to
evaluate her situation, "So long as a further exchange of
services occurs, I suppose we could be friends."

"Friendship isn't a service to be exchanged" replied Dais,
furrowing his brow in concern "It's a special magical bond
shared between ponies only when it is freely given. As some poet
once wrote, the quality of friendship is not strained. It
droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven upon the place beneath.
It is twice blessed, for it blesseth both friends. It is
mightiest in the mightiest, it becomes the throned monarch
better than his crown. Her sceptre shows the force of temporal
power, an attribute to awe and majesty, wherein doth sit the
dread and fear of princesses. But friendship is above this
sceptred sway, for it is enthroned in the hearts of
princesses..."
