Chord puts the bits back down and gives Jazz a questioning look.
"Are you sure? Bits aren't a concern for me, and I'm more than
willing to pay." She then sees Clair walk towards the door
across the hall.
"Must be hard to live without sight or talk or anything..."
Chordonus thinks as she sees him slowly move along.
She then turns back to Jazz and says with a smile "No, I don't
think I need anything else, thank you."

At the doorway to the hall, he turns to go back to the stairs
until he hears the other two still talking. Well, maybe he
could go in and say goodnight. He turns back across the hall,
breaking from his path on the border carpet to cut straight
across to the guest room. Once there, he steps to Mom and gives
her a hug, dropping his pillow by the door so he could use both
hooves. [I am done stormwatching for tonight Mom good night] he
taps out on her back, then pulls slightly away to press his
hooves against her chest and trace a heart in her white coat.
Then, without thinking, he steps over to where he heard Chord
talking from and embraces her as well. He realizes what he's
done when he feels her embarrassment radiating off of her,
inducing heavy blushing from him. He ends the hug with a quick
squeeze, giving an apologetic grin before turning around and
walking back to the door, more quickly than he came.
He almost forgets his pillow in the door frame, but kicks it and
scoops it up again before crossing the hall once more and
heading down the stairs.

Chord is very surprised at the sudden hug given to her by Clair.
She finds herself blushing very heavily. She doesn't pull out or
struggle against the hug, being too surprised by it to really do
anything, but also because it was strangely comforting. His soft
cot was warm and felt like the blanket she used to have when she
was little. She didn't really know what to do except stand there
with a blush the same shade of red as Big-Mac.
When he released her she just watched him give his smile and go.
"I-I... I... Uhhhh..." She stammered still looking towards where
he went off towards.

Jazz shakes her head again. "Really, it's fine. Like I said,
it's only a night." She glances over to the side as Clair comes
back out of the bedroom, and smiles as he comes over to hug her.
She gives him a squeeze before he pulls back to trace the heart
against her, and gives him a brief hug of her own before he
steps away. She stifles a giggle behind her hoof at the sight of
Chord's bright red face. The white mare watches Clair walk past
and down the stairs before looking back at Chord. "Well,
goodnight. I hope you sleep well." She turns and follows Clair
back downstairs.
Jazz, making her way toward her and Thyme's room, pausing for a
moment when she passes the couch as Clair settles down. She
moves on soon enough though, and finally reaches her bedroom. As
quietly as she can, she opens the door and sneaks in, being
careful not to wake Thyme. She yawns and walks around the bed,
but she can't go to sleep just yet. Instead, she finds a piece
of paper and pen, and writes a note informing her wife that they
have a guest. She sets the note down on Thyme's wheelchair,
where she's sure to see it in the morning, then carefully climbs
into bed. Jazz scooches in close tot he green unicorn, who
shifts slightly and murmers in her sleep, but doesn't wake up.
Putting foreleg around Thyme, Jazz finally lays her head down.

Down the stairs, along the stripe, across the room and back to
the couch. Clair crosses the distance slowly, yawning. Good
thing he was going to bed. Who knows what kind of stuff he
would do if he let himself get more tired. He'd already hugged
somepony unsolicited. Not that he minds, but she'd been rather
embarrassed when he had, so it probably wasn't such a good thing
to do. Anyway.
He feels along the arm of the couch, placing down the pillow on
the seat before climbing under the blanket, burrowing as far in
as he can to the crevice between the main cushions and the back.
His ears twitch and he smiles as he hears Mom go past, her
tread so familiar to him that he'd know it almost without
thinking about it. For a long moment after that, he just
listens to the rain on the roof, accompanied by occasional
crashes of thunder. Others may experience fear in a storm. Not
him. For him, it staves off that which he hates almost more
than anything else.
Silence.
After a few more moments, he rolls over, closing his eyes, faced
away from the window, but listening back anyway. Not that it
matters soon, since he quickly falls fast asleep.

Chordonus simply stands there for a speechless moment , before
Jazz says goodnight. Chord quickly regains herself and says
"Goodnight. Pleasant dreams." back before closing the door.
She then takes off her scarf and the flower in her hair and sets
them on a nightstand by the bed. Chord then takes her mane-tie
(hair-tie) out of her mane, letting it down. Chord picks up a
hoof-held (hand-held) mirror and looks at herself. She was a bit
of a mess and probably needed a bath and her feathers preened,
but she's much to tired to do anything about it though.
Chord puts the mirror back down and slides onto the bed, pulling
the blankets over. She rolls around a little and moves her wings
around to get comfortable, then settles down and enters into the
land of sleep and dreams.

Chordonus wakes up three hours later, crying. She wipes away
tears and looks out the window in her room. The storm was still
going and the lightning was still going. Chord had had a
terrible nightmare. Lightning seemed to bring up the particular
set of nightmares that had just made her cry. She usually had
somepony to help her calm down and get to sleep when she was at
home, but she found herself alone at the moment and not at home,
still crying a bit and quite shaken up.
Chord reaches for her scarf on the night stand, feeling a chill
run down her spine as she thought of her nightmare. She wraps
the scarf tightly around her. She brushes a loose hair off her
face, her mane still being down. She is still quite shaken and
feels more teas coming on. Chord decides to head down for a
glass of water, hoping it will help. She opens the door and
heads down the dark hallway towards the stairs. She carefully
heads down the stairs but trips on the last step, almost falling
on her face, but she manages to catch herself with her front
legs.
Once she picks herself up she looks around, hoping she hasn't
woken up Clair, who was sleeping on the couch. She then thinks
that maybe she could sleep on the couch with Clair. He didn't
seem to mind that kind of thing as far as she could tell, and
she probably wouldn't get to sleep otherwise. She trots over to
the couch and gently shakes Clairvoyant awake. "Umm... I hope
you don't mind... but I-I had a nightmare and I can't get back
to sleep and I was hoping that maybe.... I-I could possibly
sleep out here with you...." Chord nervously asks, blushing,
once she makes sure Clair is awake.

Clair's sleep is more peaceful than Chordonus's by far, deep
enough that when she stumbles down the last stair no more
reaction happens than a slight twitching of his ear. The same
goes for every peal of thunder, regardless of its volume or
length. His mouth hangs slightly open, his breath coming slowly
and steadily, his hooves closed on a cushion of the couch. He
faces in towards the center of the room, away from the window.
A sharp intake of breath marks the end of his slumber after she
shakes him gently and a hoof comes up to rub at his face. His
eyes open, whatever good that does, and his ears swivel, taking
stock of the situation. Still raining. Still heavy. Still
storming. He's still tired. Breathing next to the couch. His
ears turn to focus on her as he shifts on his sleeping area,
wondering sleepily why he's been woken up.
Oh, it's Chordonus. And she's had a nightmare? That's too bad.
He remembers when he used to have nightmares a lot. Now they
only ever happened if he was cold and isolated, and the best
cure for them was a shared bed, preferably with his twin sister
or Mommy.
But she didn't have the luxury of a family member to choose
from, did she? She'd just come from the train station, and must
not be anywhere near her family. The thought causes his ears to
droop in sympathy (and sleepiness), and he nods, smiling. His
horn lights up and the edge of the blanket rises, more than
large enough for himself as it had been intended to keep two
occupants warm while stormwatching. He takes the cushion and
places it back behind him, against the back of the couch, and
scooches backwards into the crevice to make more room.

Chord is still blushing, but lays down next to Clair and pulls
the blanket over her. "Th-Thank you. I know its a bit childish
but I usually can't get back to sleep after a nightmare without
somepony nearby. I hope you don't mind..." She says with a yawn
at the end. She then closes her eyes in an attempt to sleep, but
can't get comfortable. She shuffles around her body and wings
around and pulls the pulls the blanket tighter around her,
before nuzzling her head up into Clair's neck without realizing
it. She then gives a smile and nuzzles into his neck a bit more,
her previous chills gone next to Clair's body heat.

Clair nods at her explanation of why she'd come to him, his coat
tinting a dusky pink as Chordonus climbs next to him on the
couch, partly fueled by his unfamiliarity with her, partially by
her own embarrassment that reflects on him as soon as she's
close. His eyes close as he's more than prepared to drop back
into his sleep, a bit warmer and perhaps a bit less relaxed than
he had been before she'd joined him.
Her shifting constricts the blankets around them, pulling them
closer together, and then her face is in his neck.
Her muzzle is in my neck, he thinks with surprise. His blush
burns a little bit brighter and his heart rate picks up as he
feels her breath on his neck, even more when she nuzzles deeper
in. Her embarrassment was lessening, probably due more to
drowsiness than anything else, though her emotions were oddly
more buoyant anyway.
This...feeling. It's odd. When was the last time he'd been on
this end, giving comfort rather than receiving it? It certainly
has been a while. Why, the only pony who's ever really come to
him for any kind of comfort was his little brother, Snapdragon,
and even then, it had been...Clair can't even remember.
Well, he may not remember how to give comfort, but he does know
exactly what he most seeks when he needs comfort. His
forehooves slip around Chordonus's back, and he taps out a short
message to her in Morse code. {It is okay} he taps, not even
sure if she understands. Maybe she'd at least take it as
comforting if she couldn't. Either way, he does enjoy her
presence. Her breathing melds with the sound of the rain and
the occasional thunderclap, all combining to make a pleasant (to
him) soundtrack, one he could easily sleep to...He yawns
drowsily and pats Chord's back comfortingly again, beginning to
drift off once more.

Chord jumps a little when Clair wraps his hooves around her and
taps on her back, but she doesn't complain nor pull them off.
She didn't know why he was tapping on her back, her drowsy mind
not being able to recall morse code, but she assumes he's just
making sure she's still there or something. She nuzzles even
more into Clairvoyant's neck, thinking, in her tired mind, that
her head was on a pillow, not Clair's soft neck.
Chord listens a little closer to the sturm outside and finds
that she's not really bothered by the lightning or thunder when
she's next to Clair for some reason. She gives no more thought
on it though as she adorably yawns and begins falling into a
pleasant dream filled sleep, her breathing now soft. She only
shifts a little and gives a smile at the second pat, already
asleep and having a much more pleasant dream than her last one.
