Jazz looks back at Chord as she leads the younger mare into the
house, and grimaces at the sight of the muddy hoofprints they've
been leaving behind. She'd have to remember to clean that up
before she went to bed. Turning her attention back to Chord, she
smiles. "Probably went off to get us towels or somethi-oh." She
cuts herself off as Clair comes into view, indeed carrying a few
towels for them and still wrapped in the blanket. "Thank you
Clair." She says, walking over to him and lifting the towels off
his back. One goes immediately to her head, to begin drying off
her mane, and the other she floats over to Chord. "Just get off
the train?" The white mare asks, gesturing to Chord's luggage.
"You sure picked a good time for it."

"Umm... Yes actually I did just get off the train. I thought I'd
be here before the storm, but I underestimated the time I
guess." Chord replies to the older mare's question while
grabbing the towel from the air and drying herself off. She sets
her luggage down while she drys off.
She looks at the stallion who got the towels, only having a
chance to get a look at him now. He was OK looking, a little
feminine, the no pupils was a little creepy, and his hair cut
was a little... well she didn't like to judge, but otherwise he
was alright looking. There was something... off about him
though. She didn't know what it was, his slow movement, him
having no pupils, or the way he seemed to listen so closely, but
there was definitely something off about him.
"Uh... If you don't mind me asking, is he... Is he alright?"
Chord asks nervously while gesturing towards him, not wanting to
offend him or the older mare if there wasn't something wrong or
he had something wrong that wasn't curable or anything, but
       still curious nonetheless.

When Jazz takes the towels Clair sits down in place, head facing
forward while his ears do most of the changing of direction for
him. He smiles when Mom thanks him, one forehoof going over the
other and scratching it a little bit. Will they be able to go
back to watching the storm? One ear flicks toward the window at
a large peal of thunder, and he tries to imagine just what it
looked like outside with it. He's way off, overembellishing the
contrasts and sizes despite how the view outside is one of the
ones outside the house he's seen most often, and the only one
he's ever seen in a storm. But really, it's getting late
already. He's usually in bed by a couple hours ago, if he's
measuring the time right. Also the fact that everypony else is
       already in bed.
He stops his wondering as the new mare asks a question. He,
he...who's she talking about? There isn't anypony else
nearby...So either she's asking about him or he missed some
conversation so it's out of context. A light blush dusts his
face at the thought he might be under scrutiny, and his head
ducks a small amount. Oh well. She wasn't talking to him
anyway. If she was, she probably would have said "are you
alright". So he'll assume Mom knows what she's asking about and
       sit there smiling.

Jazz, now partially dry, steps over to Clair to give him a short
hug. "Do you have anypony waiting for you?" She asks, turning
back to face Chord with a concerned look. Hopefully if there is
they don't get too worried about her... Finishing drying off,
she drapes the damp towel over her back and takes a moment to
adjust her mane into some semblance of it's regular style. She
pauses at Chord's question, glancing over at Clair and then
looking at the purple pegasus. She doesn't seem like she means
any offense by it... "He..." She sighs lowly. This question
would have come up eventually. "Can't see, and he can't talk."
She puts a foreleg around Clair's shoulders and gives him a
squeeze. Not wanting to dwell on that, she turns and starts
walking for the stairs. "I'll show you to your room, it's just
       upstairs."

"Oh I'm sorry! I-I didn't know." Chord quickly says, thinking
       she'd offended the mare.
"Oh umm... No, I don't have have anypony waiting for me." Chord
replies to the older mare's question in a somber voice, lowering
her ears and head in sorrow for a moment.
She then sees the unicorn mare walk towards the stairs and
follows, folding up the towel and putting on her back, since she
was now dried off a little. She then realizes that she didn't
introduce herself, nor had she asked either of the unicorn's
names. Funny how you can ask about a pony being blind and mute
but forget to ask their name, isn't it?
"I'm uhhh Chordonus by the way. Chordonus Harmnia Tiempo." She
       nervously says, introducing herself.

Clair doesn't bat an eye or make any other obvious reaction to
the answer or the mare's response to it. He isn't even
disappointed anymore when he learns that ponies are
uncomfortable around his condition. He just sort of assumes
they will be from the get-go. It's certainly nothing new.
As they step past him, he stands up himself and walks to the
couch by the window, where he unwraps the blanket from around
him and lays it down. After a moment more of thought, he
decides that cushions are all well and good, but pillows are far
superior in almost every respect. But he didn't have any
pillows here, so he'd have to climb the stairs again to retrieve
one. Still, he'd do it. He turns around and makes his way to
       and up the stairs.

"It's fine." Jazz says, stopping to look back at Chord.
"Everypony always asks eventually. It's better than awkwardly
avoiding it." She watches Clair move to the couch and set the
blanket down, apparently having decided to sleep there tonight.
She turns around when he starts heading for the stairs, giving
Chord a friendly smile. "It's nice to meet you Chordonus. My
name's Jazz, and that's Clairvoyant.." She motions to her son,
then turns to begin leading Chord up the stairs again.
After helping Chord carry her luggage up the stairs, Jazz leads
her down the hallway all the way to the end. "This one's your
room." She says, opening the door and gesturing inside. "The
bathroom's just right there." She points to the next door down.
"There'll be breakfast at about eight tomorrow if you want it."

Chord is suprised that Jazz would help her with her luggage, but
doesn't complain. When she's shown her room she takes her
luggage and sets it against a wall before turning back to Jazz.
"Thank you. Ummm... Do I need to pay you or anything? Bits
aren't really a concern, especially after all tou're doing for
me." She says, getting into her luggage for her bit pouch.

Jazz shakes her head, giving a slight giggle. "No, there's no
need for that, it's only one night after all." She pauses to
watch Clair, who's just coming into view up the stairs, for a
few seconds. "Is there anything else you need?" She asks,
       turning back to Chord.

       Clair makes his not-quite-slow-enough-to-be-called-ponderous way
up the stairs, cresting the top not too long after Mom and
Chordonous reach the room. From the top of the stairs, he
crosses down the opposite side of the hall from the one on which
the guest room sits, to where, directly across from that room,
lies the one he shares with his twin sister. Before they moved
in, it had also been a guest room and to most it would probably
seem a bit small for the age and size of the two ponies who
occupy it, but for them it's a perfect fit.
He walks around the perimeter of the room, past the dresser and
nightstand, to the bedside, listening to the rain hitting the
window and, more distantly, drumming on the roof. He's almost
surprised not to hear soft breathing and humming coming from the
bed, regardless of the fact that he knows Clarity isn't there to
be making the sound. If she was, he'd probably climb into the
bed with her, but the room just didn't seem...right without her
brightening the atmosphere with just her presence.
Instead he just reaches across for his fluffy pillow. He gives
it a squeeze and walks back along the stripe of carpet and to
       the doorway.
