Pepper could only smile as the writer attemoted to defend
himself against Peppers jibe, his head tikting ti the side as
they began to walk away from the cart, "Oh actually i happen to
love sweets myself, sometimes just a vacation from normal is
refrehung in itself" he commented sweetly as they walked a sift
humming escaping her as they walked. "This place is anwhole lot
more active than i thought it would be.." he said his eyes
seeming drawn ro any little movement around them.

"Heh, yeah, there always seems to be something going on around
here," Marked said, him giving a small glance of his own at his
surroundings, "most would probably be fooled into thinking this
town was nothing more than a small farming community where most
pokies knew everypony else's names, but I swear I can't think of
a time I didn't visit this town and there wasn't something
interesting going on. Of course, what else could you expect when
you have all six of the Element Bearers living here? Seems
they're always solving, or sometimes causing, some kind of
problem around here. Add that to semi-frequent appearances by
the Princess of the Sun, the Everfree forest nearby, some pop
ins by that Discord guy... Like I said, there's almost always
something going on around here."

The effeminate pony blinked a little as they continued to clop
down the way, Tail swishing this way and that like the excited
little pony of indeterminate sex that he ways, occassionally
leaning on Marked as someone passed byu that would normally have
required Pepper to scoot over to let them through but Pepper
willingly seemed to put quite the distance between himself and
others...just not Marked. "Oh yes, All six bearers." He said
distractedly as some pegasi flew overhead, her head turning to a
cart with candles and and a blue and white pony speaking over
them. "Such interesting candles...might have to visit later." He
said distractedly, one ear cocked to Marked, the other ear
twitching as it caughtr more sounds around him, causing a giggle
to escape. "So which princess do you like better? The one that
lives here? Sun, Moon, Love?" Pepper asked curiously.

"Favorite Princess?" Marked parroted, finding the continued
leaning against him to be a bit odd seeing how Pepper looked to
be trying to avoid getting close to anypony else they passed,
"Well, I dunno if I can say I have an actual favorite... I've
never met any of them personally, and neither Princess Sparkle
or Princess Cadensa are really in places of power that directly
affect me. At least not that I know of. Then Princess Luna
hasn't been around for all that long yet so... And double how
Sparkle hasn't been a princess at all for much time so... I
guess I default to Celestia? I've seen her a few times in that
past either when I was visiting Canterlot or she was visiting
Ponyville, and she seemed nice enough, but again I've never had
the pleasure of actually meeting them. Nor do I believe I ever
actually will. Just a writer and all, nopony really important
for them to take notice of. What about you? Do you have a
'favorite'?"

Pepper hmmm'ed gently. "Celestia seems nice enough, and Luna is
nice, and sparkle is close by, but..." He said with a chuckle.
"I have to say I would go with Cadence." He said with a nod.
"She's so pretty don't you think? Doesn't have to work with it,
and such a lovely talent!" Peppers tail raised up, beginning to
swish lazily from side to side, Peppers leaning on Marked made
more sense as they walked, the 'Mare' just didn't seem to have a
good sense of how big He was, and suck to leaning on Marked so
He didn't run into anypony. "I still don't believe you, I am
going to stick with the mysterious well travelled writer hiding
in Ponyville..." He teased, pushing his head against Markeds.

"I suppose she's pretty, though I've never even gotten to see
her before with my own eyes, so..." Wow, she really did seem to
be comfortable with touching somepony she just met, Marked
thought to himself, the leaning still seeking pretty... soon,
while the touching of heads was nearing a level if intimacy that
he wasn't sure he was comfortable with reaching with the assumed
mare, "uh... Heh... Then you would have an imagination that
could rival some of my fellow story tellers," he replied to
Pepper's teasing, taking a small side step to out a little bit
of distance between them more for comfort's sake than to try and
in any way be mean, "just don't go spreading the news of how I
went to the Gryphon Kingdom for a month and was a guest of honor
at the royal family's palace," the stallion tried to joke as
they neared a particular building, Marked then pointing it out
possibly a bit awkwardly, "Well, anyway, here we are! Sugar Cube
Corner! Any particular sweets you're hoping to find?"

The stallion frowned, and stopped suddenly, head tilting to the
side. "Oh my." He said as if realizing something, his face
blushing though you could onl just tell under his coat.
"I....feel as if I must apologize." He said looking down. "My
family was reared on touching and being overl friendl, it seems
and I lost my manners somewhere around when we started walking.
He did actually seem to be a little ashamed of himself as he
gained an awkward self realization. "I don't get around many
ponies much and I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable..."
He trailed off, before perking up again as if nothing had
happened but he did seem to main a few inches between them, his
tail occassionally swishing out and touching Marked as if it was
such an ingrained habit that he could not fully stop it. "Er,
sweets. I have heard ponyville has the best cupcakes
around...."

"Uh... No, its okay..." Marked assured as a hoof of his rubbed
the back of his neck, "I guess I just am not used to being so
touchy so quick..." Well, Pepper seemed to shrug it off quickly
enough from the looks of her, the mare having refocused her
attention onto the Corner they'd come to get some sweets from.
"Oh yeah," the writer agreed with Pepper's claim about having
heard of Ponyville's cupcakes, "you'll hear most ponies say thst
Ponyville has the best of everything around really, but I'd have
to agree with that one. Cupcakes here are amazing, baked by a
few really talented ponies. One bite and then bliss." He started
up his trot again, the idea of having such delicious treats
encouraging a small picking up of his pace as he went to open
and then hold the door for Pepper.

Pepper perked happily, as he heard the good news of the
cupcakes. "Color me excited! Or more red. Whichever." He said in
a distracted way as he looked around sugar cube corner before
giggling lightly as the door was held open to him. "Such a
gentlecolt." He said with a wink before trotting inside, his
tail held high and perky, perhaps giving Marked just the
briefest glimpse of pepper's true gender, as pepper freely
fancied himself mentally on a date. Poor Pepper, having an eye
for both mares and stallions seemed to leave people with a mixed
impression of him. He peered around the small bakery and went
up to the counter, eyes open in child like glee. "Sweet Celestia
the sweets here." He said in a quiet whisper, the smell making
his nose twith however, and he tucked his muzzle up against his
shoulder, causing a small sneeze to occur.

Marked, being the gentlecolt that he was, did not notice the
chance he had to lay his earlier confusion to rest, the writer
not really worrying about it either way as he had made up his
mind on what she was already. Following in after the mare,
Marked watched as Pepper took in the interior if the building,
the stallion giving a small chuckle at the sneeze and trotting
up beside her, his eyes being drawn more towards the pies on
display than anything else. "Gesundheit," he said in response,
"does the smell of sweeter stuff get to your nose a bit? Same
thing almost happened to me when I caught the smell of your
cart." Marked, having a sensitive nose of his own, was more
loving the smell of the shop than having it tickle much, the
stallion recognizing thst things can indeed smell too sweet just
as the food can have too strong a taste, usually both being
caused by nit very good bakers who somehow got it into their
heads that more sugar alone equaled better taste.
