Was she alright? No she's not alright. Her imagination was busy
on creating possible outcomes for the night guards visit. Taly's
question went unheard by Ryo, as she was still anticipating that
other guard to enter the forge any second now. But then Ryo
realized that she was there with Mana, who wasn't just a royal
guard, but had already told her earlier that she was not suspect
in any crime. She lifted her head slightly, but before she had
chance to respond, Thunder went on a rant about his armor again.
Ryo felt like protesting against Thunder's sarcastic comment,
but Thunder was faster and gave assumption that "snuggles" would
       make her feel better.
Ryo's face turned red, her head dropped back down and she turned
her head away from others in the room, but this time from
embarrassment instead of nervousness. She forgot her assumptions
of other guard waiting behind the door and was now doing her
best to subtly hide her blush.

"I honestly don't know," Ironfire responded to Talyserra, an
edge of concern to his tone, looking towards Ryo, and actually
wondering why she was in such a state, before Thunder's
outburst, "tell you what Thunder, I might accept your opinions
on the quality and standard of armour if you had any actual
training in it's form and crafting," he grit his teeth, "but
don't insult my work or craft. If you got regular maintenance,
then you may have been able to make some of those 'battle scars'
decorative, but your own lack of care, to both yourself and that
armour, meant I had to nearly reforge the entire thing over.
Just be glad it's the same suit of armour at all,"

Talyserra would shrug a little bit as she tilted her head. "I
would have to agree with Ironfire..." She said softly. "Regular
maintenance can lead to having the battlescars as well as armor
thatr wont crumple and bite into your skin.." A soft chuckle
escaped her. "I've seen it were Guards who don't take care of
their armor in basic ways have found it turning ont hem....If
you take care of at least the spirit of your armor, it will work
to protect you." She said in a reverent sort of way. Er. Creepy
chick. She would lightly poke Thunder. "Though I don't suppose
most armor would have a problem protecting a stallion like
yourself." She said with another sigh, before she turned to Ryo,
       lightly circumventing Mana.
"Hello little one." She said approachfully. "You look like a
brave mare yourself. How do you do?"

Thunder was starting to actually get legitimately bothered by
how he was being spoken to at this point, particularly with
Ironfire, this being evident by the un-amused narrowing of his
eyes at the two who thought they could tell him what he could
and couldn't do with his armor just because they knew how to
       bang a hammer against metal.
"Okay, let me say this a little more clearly for you," he said,
tone actually seeming to go from sarcastic to legitimately upset
for a brief moment, especially after having witnessed another
guard walk into the forge, say pretty much the same thing he had
when he'd come by with his originally damaged armor but get a
free pass just because she was apparently a blacksmith, "I've
been doing my job for a long time now, quite a few years in
fact, and said job has not entailed the basic duties of
wandering up and down corridors in a building where every hoof
step echoes for several seconds. I may not be a blacksmith, I
admit that I don't know as much as I could about the forging of
armor and arms, but when it comes to what armor is capable of
actually standing up to when out in the field, don't act like I
don't know what I'm talking about. You make the armor, I wear it
and witness what it can do. I know when armor can break, and I
know when it still has plenty of miles left in its durability.
So, despite what you tell yourself you think you know better
than me just because you're a blacksmith, I know darn well what
I'm talking about. Face down a cyclops, get caught in the middle
of a pack of timberwolves, pounced on by a manticore, ambushed
by renegade Golden Eagles, and chased by a hydra first, then
come tell me when I should get my stuff repaired." The poke from
the night guard was ignored, as did the guard herself for the
most part, Thunder remaining quite cross with both her and the
blacksmith over how, to him, it felt like they were talking down
       to him at this point.
Mana, not used to seeing his partner get so serious about
things, was undecided over if he should stay by Ryo during this
moment where she seemed so distressed over the New guards
presence, or if he should try to go calm hos friend down
instead. Ugh... Today has been a weird, awkward and stressful
day... Usually Thunder was the one making things more casual and
fun, not being part of the headache... Um... He took a step
closer to Ryo, more out of wanting to encourage to relax more as
he tried to decide how to talk to Thunder, Mana at the moment
trying to catch hos partners eye so as to send a silent message.

Ryo's ears perked up When Talyserra addressed her. She turned to
face the night guard, before briefly looking at Mana. Ryo
returned her gaze to Taly and tried to give the guard her
answer. The morale she had found moments ago vanished when she
       was directly addressed. "I-... I-i'm... I-i'll go and... W-wait
       outside... Maybe... I-if that's o-okay..." She offered a
nervous, and obviously fake smile to others in the room, but
didn't move anywhere yet. Thunder's strange behavior wasn't
helping her nerves one bit, but she stood still and waited for
       permission to leave.

The night guard, clearly have stepped on something that had the
effect of unleashing a swarm of angry, angry bees blinked
owlishly, which was funny for a bat pony. "...He said your name
is thunder was it?" She said looking to him. "I cannot speak for
Ironfire, or anyone but myself but I am sorry if my tone came
off across like I was attempting to be ...superior." She said
lowering her head in a submissive manner. "I understand your
feelings, I've had to fight many things, Master Thunder, and I
can understand your position and I think you for your service
and hope you get to see the retirement i will not." She said
with a playful twitch of her muzzle. "Please, however this is
not the place for an argument or fight." She said, her voice
soft but it carried through the silence well enough, as if borne
on the backs of enslaved breezies! She turned her head to Ryo.
"And you..." She said slowly, her ears flicking along with her
wings. "I know you..." She said leainng in close to get a good
look at Ryo. "Ah! I remember now, One of the tiems I was
actually in canterlot..." She leaned in close, so close that
even Mana might have hard time hearing the soft-spoken Bat.
"Your the one that did that trick with the coins right? I want
you to know I'm a fan of yours, I was rooting for you that day,
so if nobody else says anything, I have no reason to be looking
for you if that's the problem you've been having." Playfully she
left a kiss on Ryo's cheek before she stepped back to Thunder.
"Please, this arguing is not in the spirit of the guard when we
are with other Ponies. We have an example to set."

"I wouldn't call this arguing," Thunder replied, not really
wanting to go into the subject of how he personally didn't
really think his chances of making it to any kind of retirement
was all that high when thought about realistically since that
would be.. kinda lame to think about... And probably make him
sound like he was trying to brag or appear superior should he go
on about who he worked for and what he did for them, "more
like... 'Thunder proves how everypony else is wrong bahbies and
he is only right one in room'." A small nod afterwards, eyes
closed in an expression that made it seem as if he'd laid
everything to rest while his tone of voice started to swing back
       to how it usually was.
Mana, noting how Thunder was getting over his recent grumps,
didn't pay him much mind as the small kiss on Ryo's cheek from
the night guard kept his attention more. Hm... Mana wasn't all
that pleased by it... Made him have his mind immediately snap
back to his earlier slip of the tongue in regards to his own
interest in doing the same... He was even less stoked about the
       new guards presence now.
Thunder, also catching the small kiss, had his own thoughts go a
different, more playful direction. "Jeez, Ryo, stop making
everypony want to make out with you," he teased, rolling his
eyes and turning back to his armor, "first Mana and now the
night shift? I'm starting to wonder when me or Iron will want to
try for a smooch of our own..."

Ryo bit her lip as Taly revealed that she recognized her. She
gave a quick glance to Mana, to see if he was hearing what Taly
was saying, but her eyes returned forward and her ears shot up
when Taly suddenly... Kissed... Her... Ryo blushed, from both
the kiss and for knowing that Mana was standing next to her. She
couldn't form a response for Taly, but instead stuttered
something incoherent for a while. This was either a new
interrogation tactic Ryo had never encountered before or
something... else... No, it couldn't be. Taly is a mare, and Ryo
wasn't interested in other mares... She quickly brushed such
thoughts away from her mind and was about to somehow both ask
Mana if he heard what Taly said and say something about that...
Kiss... But Thunder was on it again, this time implying that
both him and Iron would probably soon have a crush on her too.
Ryo first looked at Thunder, then turned her head to Iron,
blushing more each time. "I-i-i... I" Instead of actually being
able to form a complete sentence, Ryo lowered her head and
looked at Mana, trying to somehow tell if he was mad at her now.

"Thunder... just... please take care of it," Ironfire pleaded,
"your armour deserves more care than you appear to be giving it.
Either maintain it yourself or just visit periodically. Make it
weekly and I could probably do the job then and there. Unless a
hydra tried to eat you or something. I'm good, but I'm not a
miracle worker," he chuckled, before turning his attention to
Talyserra who apparently knew Ryo. The kiss was certainly
unexpected, and he couldn't help but roll his eyes at Thunder's
comments, before seeing Ryo blush at the two of them, "trust me,
you're a bit too young for me,"

Talyserra's fluffy ears perked up as she looked at Ironfire,
Thunder, and Mana, especially noting Mana's and Thunder's
reaction. "....I feel I am missing something here. Is your
culture not based around affection?" She said with a owlish
blink. "My sisters used to kiss me on the cheek all the time..."
She said softly. "Is that bad here? A sisterly kiss?" She seemed
oblivious to the thought that a mare might like another mare.
Talyserra's tail swished back and forth looking between the four
of them, a silly smile on her face as she sat down, Though she
still sat down next to Ryo, in her head, she seemed the innocent
bystandard in all this. If Thunder went off like a crazyhorse,
someone would have to get her out or shield her for a few
moments at least. The smile increased to a giggle. "Thunder is
right and everyone is wrong bahbies? That's a very..." She
rolled her eyes. "Definite way of thinking of things."
