       Re: A Bite to Eat
By: Mana Burn Date: March 11, 2014, 9:44 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The magic... accidental... trick... thing had both amused and
confused Mana. He found it amusing by how, even it hadn't been
intentional, his uncle would probably have a field day trying to
understand how she, without using her horn or even meaning for
the coin to find its way behind her ear, managed to get it to
roll out almost humorously on cue. Mana figured shed have made a
fan out of her uncle with that one and probably spurred the
stallion to try and work out his own version of the trick. Mana
had given a short and light bit of applause at the completion of
the trick, him showing how he had been impressed and amused
       despite Ryo's own confusion.
Hearing the mare's thoughts on his not so serious idea of the
magic airship dinner theatre got Mana thinking. It did sound
like fun, but... How was he going to manage that...
Unfortunately, if ever it would be possible, Mana figured he
wouldn't be getting that kind of date put into motion any time
in the foreseeable future. Catering from a fine resteraunts, or
at least getting his dad to personally play along for Mana's
sake, then either convincing one of his airship captain
acquaintances or friends to allow him to essentially take over
their ship for a bit or going with a more expensive and tricky
deal of hiring somepony who ran airships for such purposes...
Sounded difficult. Really difficult. Less difficult to get his
uncle though he guessed. The street magician would probably come
along if he was just told about Ryo's own bit behind the ear
trick. And if he was promised some dinner for himself of course.
"Sure, they allow food on board," Mana answered, briefly pulling
himself away from his thoughts to smile at Ryo and float the bit
from the floor back up to him with his magic, "crew has to eat,
right? And then the cruise ships need to feed their passengers
       of course.
When he heard and saw how Ryo was reacting to his having wanted
to pay for their earlier food and drink, Mana frowned a little
bit in worry, him glancing down at the coin then back to Ryo.
Had he done something wrong? Maybe he insulted her by paying for
the doughnuts and not letting her take care of her share? Mana
had thought he'd been doing something nice, but now he wasn't so
sure if he was supposed to pay for it all or not... It was a...
well... a date, right? Wasn't it polite to pay for a meal as a
way to treat someone to it as part of a date? Mana had
completely forgotten about the exchange of bits earlier as he'd
been more focused on just being with the mare, but now he felt
he might have stumbled somewhere without realizing... "Um..."
Mana began, awkwardly again now that he thought he'd done
something wrong, "I don't doubt they're real bits..." a curious
thing to assure him of but something he didn't try to dwell on
at the time, "... Uh... Well, I forgot what I paid for them
anyway, but... How about, if it makes you uncomfortable that I
took care of it, next time you're in town we can get doughnuts
again and you can pay for those if you really want to...? Not
that you have to... Like I said, it was my pleasure and you're
very welcome..." The guard wasn't sure if he should apologize or
not, him trailing off a bit as he looked down at his hooves. She
could, of course, give him that kiss if- Agh! His brain did it
       again!

"Deal!" Ryo said to Mana's proposition, her voice a bit louder
than she had meant it to be. They had to avoid getting awkward
with each other again. What if things would stay awkward and not
return to normal again? Ryo didn't want to take that chance.
"I... I mean, deal... Heh he... It's just fair that way, right?"
She looked around the room, trying to find something else to
talk about. Her eyes settled on Mana's journal, that reminded
her of their original reason to visit Mana's home in the first
place. "We found your journal..." Ehhh... Ryo glanced at a clock
on the wall. "The train won't leave for almost two more hours.
We still have time to do something... If you'd like."

Mana flinched slightly at how loudly and eagerly Ryo agreed to
his idea. He guessed she didn't want him doing those kinds of
things for her... this causing Mana to feel silly and again as
if he'd done something wrong. "I suppose..." He replied, again
feeling a need to apologize as he glanced at the mare then back
to his hooves. The mention of how much time Ryo still had to
spend in the city caused Mana to look up at his clock in the
room as if he would be able to recognize if she was right or not
despite his imperfect grasp of the train schedule when going off
of just his memory. "Hmm... Well, I would like to do something,
but what should we do... Maybe we can just take a walk around
town? There is something I need to go take care of anyway, but I
don't know if your exactly eager to come along with me as I do
something boring like pick up a set of boots. Probably wouldn't
hurt to try and check on Thunder either. He's probably caused
something to collapse in the time he's been left
       unsupervised..."

"I can tag along. What else could i do anyway *giggle*." Ehhh...
That sounded like an insult... "Not that... I Don't...
Appreciate... Your... Company... I- Ehhh... *sigh* I'd like to
come with you." Ryo said after her garbled stuttering. Ryo
picked Mana's journal and the transmutation book with her and
walked towards the doorway. "Where are we gonna go first?" She
asked, placing the books into her saddlebags. Ryo lift her bags
on her back and waited for Mana.

Mana used his magic to levitate the ruby Ryo had gifted to him
over to himself as he walked not towards the doorway but towards
the locked shelf he'd been near earlier. As Ryo gathered up her
things, the guard unlocked the magic keeping the shelf securely
shut, it eventually sliding open enough for him to slip the ruby
inside and guarantee that it remain safe while he was away.
Finished, he turned to head over towards the mare and join her
at the doorway, his helmet being lifted from the table and
settled back onto his head as he walled. "Well, as I mentioned,
I do need to pick up my boots. I left them with a blacksmith for
some simple polishing and to have a few new gems set into them.
Then I was hoping that the same Alchemist that made this dye
that's covering my face would be at her shop so I could ask
about a way to remove it without having to wait the full two
weeks its supposed to last. Then of course ill need to fix
whatever mess has surely been caused by a certain guard, but
that probably won't be until later today. So!" He smiled and
turned his body to invite the mare to walk with him, the guards
magic again lighting up his horn as it manipulated the doors
around them to either open for or close behind as they went,
"First stop would be the blacksmith's if you still want to
       come."

Ryo simply nodded and followed Mana outside, ready to join him
on his trip to the blacksmith. She managed to hide it, but she
was very excited to visit another blacksmith besides Steel
       Ingot.
