Curtis

Name: Curtis
Race: Donkey
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Physical Description: Curtis is a slightly pale grey donkey, a
little on the short side, and although he's relatively well
toned, also quite slender of build. His mane is an unruly mop of
very dark brown hair, his tail long and prehensile, ending in a
similar mess of dark brown hair, and his eyes are dark green.
Although he does possess mildly knobbly knees, they're not
hugely pronounced compared to most Donkeys, although his ears
are as long and floppy as normal. Unlike what some ponies might
expect, Curtis is rather well-groomed, besides the occassional
flakes of sawdust in his hair.
Special Talent: Although (like all Donkeys) he doesn't have a
cutie-mark, Curtis' talents lie almost entirely in building and
repair, as well as wood and stone work.
Likes: Home cooked food, working hard, getting things done and
being productive, jogging and walking in the evenings, being
helpful, making and chatting with friends, a nice drink or two
from time to time.
Dislikes: Having nothing to do, being looked down on because of
his race, conflict and violence, bullying and cruelty.
Strengths: Curtis is an excellent carpenter, handyman, stone and
wood worker, and knows a reasonable amount about the repair and
maintenance of old structures, wood or stone. Because of this,
he's also rather well toned and skilled with all manner of
tools, as well as being physically fit and able. Although his
grasp of cooking, cleaning and other chores is simplistic,
Curtis is rather proud of his ability to take care of himself,
and lives alone in a small log cabin not too far from the
Everfree.
Weaknesses: Unfortunately, Curtis, despite his knowledge of his
work, isn't the brightest, which, combined with stereotypes
surrounding Donkeys, often has him labelled as unintelligent or
crude. This means he has severe problems blending in with any
kind of formal or high class surroundings. Curtis hates conflict
of any kind, and isn't the bravest in standing up for himself or
fighting back, having suffered at the hooves of cruel bullies
when he was younger, and never quite gotten over his
experiences.
Fears: Being bullied or mistreated because of his race, being
ostracised or rejected by Ponyville, conflict and violence.
Bio: The only child of rather poor parents, Curtis was sent off
to board at a prestigious Canterlot school filled almost
entirely with ponies, and, much to his parents' disappointment,
never achieved much success, due to both his failures in school
(not for a lack of trying), and ostracism and constant bullying
by his peers, which left him unconfident, and gave him his
lasting fear and hatred of conflict and bullying.
Not long after graduating with poor grades, Curtis worked in
Canterlot as a janitor, but after a few years of mistreatment
and unsatisfying work, he left the city, viewing it as too
snooty, a city where it would be incredibly difficult for a
Donkey to find actual, rewarding work. After a few years of
travelling from city to city, Curtis eventually settled in
Ponyville, and has lived there peacefully ever since. Currently,
he lives in a small log cabin on the outskirts of town, both
performing maintenance on behalf of the Mayor, and selling his
relatively popular woodwork in town, during market days.
Although he might have had a rough upbringing, Curtis is a kind
and friendly sort, always willing to help anyone who needs his
assistance, and make lasting friendships with those he enjoys
the company of. Due to the low population of Donkeys and Mules
in Ponyville, Curtis has made friends with a large amount of
ponies in town, and is beyond happy with the way in which the
small, kind community has welcomed and accepted him.
Extra Details: Even when not working, Curtis often wears his
tool-belt, carrying basic gear needed for repairs and
maintenance, often useful about the town for helping ponies with
this or that odd task.
