A Potion a Day...
By: Thyme Date: February 7, 2014, 2:17 pm

Thyme glances down at the notebook in her hooves, the pencil
held in her magic making careful lines on the paper. Her eyes go
back to the street outside, her spot by the Alembic's window
affording her a good view of the street as she sketches. At the
moment she's drawing a little coffee shop a ways down. She'd
almost finished, after which she would move on the the candle
store beside it. Another look down at her paper to make sure
she's drawing correctly. She stops for a couple moments,
considering whether to add the stallion sitting at one of the
tables reading a book. Her choice is made for her when he closes
the book and stands up to leave though, and she goes back to
just sketching the storefront.

Was juuuuust down the street here, a white coated blue haired
mare assured herself, tiredly making her way towards the coffee
shop she was searching for and its promised doses of caffeine.
The mare kept up her relatively slow pace as she passed by other
ponies in the street, normally being in the mood to at least
give them friendly smiles as she passed, not out of disliking
them but simply because right now she didn't have the energy for
such minor gestures with strangers. Maybe she should have headed
home earlier than she did last night like her coworkers had
urged. Especially after shed noticed... daylight.
A pause in her walk, the mare needing a moment to raise a hoof
up to her mouth to try and stifle the mighty yawn that was
trying to advertise how tired she was, her leaning against the
wall of the building shed been about to wander past so as to
maintain her balance but deciding to rest for a moment when she
noticed what a wonderful job the sun had been doing to heat it
up. "Hello, wall..." She mumbled with a small sigh, using her
hoof to tap the structure as she relaxed her head against it
like it was the shoulder of an old friend, "thank you for being
so warm... You're a good pony..."
And then she closed her eyes... and nearly fell asleep, her
stumble being what brought her back just before she fell over.
Her eyes snapping back open with a startled gasp, she blinked a
few times in surprise, the sudden small scare of possibly face
planting onto the ground waking her up a little. Not quite an
energy drink or cup of joe, but it did an okay job of letting
her remember where she was and waht shed been doing. Glancing
around after a shale of her head to clear it, the mare spotted
the coffee shop just a little further down the street... and she
suspected that she wasn't going to make it that far without
another... "mishap".
Sighing, then noticing how nice and warm that wall next to her
was, the mare nearly fell into the same trap as before, only
being saved when she glanced through the large windows she was
standing next to and into the shop beyond. Place looked
familiar... And colorful... Heh... Colors... Another shake of
her head and the silly smile of sleep deprived amusement she was
getting out of looking at the different colored potions of the
store were gone, the mare then deciding that, hey, if she was
going to collapse from exhaustion, she may as well do it inside
a vaguely familiar looking store. Wobbling a little on her
hooves, the white coated mare headed for the doors of the shop,
actually being a little bit surprised when she managed to reach
them, and stepped inside. "Hellooooo!" She greeted whoever may
be inside with a small wave of her hoof to present herself as
she entered, again losing track of where she was as her tired
brain momentarily convinced her that she was some kind of
royalty, "I have come to test your furniture! Bring me your
finest snickerdoodles!"

Thyme was half finished with the candle store now, though she'd
paused to watch a couple of young pegasi who had apparently been
saving a snow cloud since winter, and were now pelting each
other with snowballs in the air above the street. Opinions
seemed to be mixed about this even, some ponies giving the pair
annoyed glares while others happily cheered one or the other on.
For her part, Thyme doesn't really care who's "winning", though
she was entertained nonetheless. As focused as she is on the
pair, she doesn't even notice Vita until the mare stumbles into
her shop, looking like she's about to keel over. The green mare
stares for a moment, surprised at the doctor's condition, then
frowns and wheels closer. "Vita, are you alright?" She asks even
though Vita's clearly out of it, hoping being addressed will
help the mare focus.

"Countess C.B. Muffin Bottom of Sweet Leek County is always
fine, chandler!" Vita replied, swaying a bit as her balance
debated if it was in the mood to help or hinder, "and I'm quite
certain I radiate my fineness just fine! do I not look fine? Why
I feel perfectly purple! Just take a left turn and you'll see
why the prices are always so incredibly fired." Staggering a bit
and holding a hoof out to catch herself and prevent her from
crashing into one of the shelves, the mare attempted to steady
herself then hold her nose up as if a noble and address Thyme
again, "I continue to wait for the offering of bran! To keep me
in such suspense is surely a crime in this country of your's my
lady queen... Pray this does not lead to war between our peoples
for I shall show no mercy..."

Well, that didn't help any. Thyme rolls backward again ever so
slightly as Vita's limb flails out to catch her balance, staying
out of reach. "Vita, focus." She says, her voice rising a little
to hopefully get the other mare's attention. She's not entirely
sure what to do here. Her eyes go to the coffee shop across the
street for a moment. Should she go get her something in hopes of
waking her up? Or she does have a sleeping bag in the back room,
in case she ever needs to watch a potion overnight. Should she
go get that? "Do you want me to get you some coffee? Or do you
need to lay down?"

"Neigh!" Vita replied, a little louder than shed even meant to
before lowering her voice down to a near whisper and staggering
a couple steps closer to the mare, "see, I figured it out..."
She claimed, tapping the side of her head with a hoof as her
eyes showed some red that clearly indicated a severe lack of
rest, "coffee is how they get into your head. That's why we
drink it. Because it tells us to drink it! And because THEY tell
us to drink it! With their smiles and silly unnecessary names
for cup sizes! I was a slave to coffee but now I'm seeing
clearly! The baristas are the ones really running the country,
we just don't want to see the truth! Take away the coffee and
you take away the work force!!" And then she stumbled and fell
back onto her rump, landng with an "oomph" and following it up
with a quiet "ooooowwww..." Before frowning and staring at the
floor.

Thyme retreats further as Vita advances, and her wheelchair
bumps into the side of shelf, halting her movement. Thankfully
the white mare falls backward and stopping her rambling to glare
tiredly at the floor. Well, that had been slightly more
coherent. Slightly. She looks the other mare over, considering
what she should do next. She's not sure if her little rant
actually meant she didn't want any coffee, but in her present
state she's not sure she trusts the doctor to drink it, nor to
leave her alone in the store while she's getting it. So,
sleeping bag it is. She turns and carefully rolls past Vita,
looking over her shoulder as she makes her way toward the back
room. She'd try to lead the mare back with her, but she isn't
sure how well that would work with Vita's state of mind, and she
was not very eager to be in close quarters with a pony who was
liable to reach out for her is she needs to steady herself. she
reaches out with her magic as she goes through the door and out
of the main room of the shop, taking the rolled up sleeping bag
and a small pillow from their places on a shelf. These items in
tow, she returns to the main shop area.

... Stupid floor... being all hard and uncomfortable to fall
onto... should be made out of pillows instead of whatever blurry
stuff this one was. Pillows stuffed with soft feathers. Or a
feather pillow stuffed into a pillow filled with feather
pillows. A feathery pillow pillow. Big enough to lay on
entirely. Like a cloud. Or one of them... What were they
called... Um... You lay on them at night... Usually where you
keep your blankets... Uh... Oh, right.
A ladder.
Vita glanced up from the floor, finding herself alone in the
potion shop and now very confused. Had she scared off that other
mare? Had she just imagined her the entire time? Was... was she
trying to sneak up on her!?
Spinning around, or at least trying her best, Vita attempted to
catch the wheelchair riding ninja mare off guard as she tried to
counter the no doubt about to be sprung tickle ambush waiting
for her. Of course, with her balance and energy the way it
currently was, all the mare managed to do was cause herself to
fall over and onto her side where she just laid blinking for a
few seconds. Stupid floor... Being all hard and uncomfo-
"ooooh!" She cut her own thoughts off, spotting a bright yellow
potion in the bottom shelf next to her. Yellow was usually drawn
as the color of lightning and electricity, right? Vita had
always found that to be kind of silly when shed never seen
yellow lightning before, but still, the color could be seen as
energetic, right? Reaching her hoof out, or rather dragging it
across the floor towards, the potion, Vita became very
interested in what this drink could do for her, her trying to
grab it but only causing it to fall over onto its side and roll
towards her, it stopping next to her face on the floor... where
she just stared at it... the incredibly tired wheels in her head
screeching as they tried to understand what this meant... Even
though it didn't mean anything.

From her place by the door to the back room, Thyme was no longer
able to see Vita. She glances to the door for a moment, hoping
the mare hadn't wandered off. Well, she hadn't heard the bell
above the door ring, so unless the doctor was suddenly able to
phase through solid matter or teleport, she likely just lay down
or stepped into one of the aisles. Thyme rolls out from behind
the counter, spotting Vita in just about the same spot she'd
left her, though now she was on her side on the floor, staring
at a bottle she'd knocked off a shelf. The green mare moves back
over to her, unrolling the sleeping back and setting it and the
pillow down beside the prone pony. She shakes Vita gently with
her magic, leaning down a little to get a look at the potion
she'd been messing with. It was a potion of light, when it was
dark the liquid inside would shine, mimicking sunlight. "Vita."
Thyme says, trying to get the mare's attention. "I've got
something for you to rest on." She raises her left hoof and
points at the sleeping bag.

Vita mumbled unintelligible words at the magical shaking, her
tiredly lifting her head just enough to turn it so as to look up
at the wheelchair bound mare. She squinted her eyes and furrowed
her brow as she tried to understand what Thyme was talking
about, her then following the mares pointed hoof with her eyes
until they found the sleeping bag rolled out on the floor next
to her. "... H-huh...?" She questioned with a sigh, her brain
not being able to even identify what she was seeing at the
moment, "... What's that? You want me to... use it to help me
chew my way out of the cell? It doesn't have enough wings
though..."
