Re: Just Another Night Off

A twinge of uncertainty grazed briefly across Ivory's features,
her smile faltering somewhat as she studied the nervous stallion
sitting before her. What was going through his head, she
wondered? Tapping a hoof lightly against her chin, Ivory
pondered whether or not she was being too forward about the
whole thing. Perhaps she was... Either way, Ivory wasn't
entirely convinced by Schwambart's rather intermittent answer.
But how would she approach a situation like this without running
him off? That's the last thing she wanted to do, especially
after finding somepony so kind and endearing as him.
"You sound... uncertain," Ivory said with a quiet sigh, averting
her gaze for a few moments. "It's okay if you say no. I truly
don't mind, and I don't want to push you into something you
don't want to do." Ivory's golden eyes once again locked onto
the stallion, and once again she couldn't help but smile.
Schwambart looked and sounded nervous, a feeling she was all too
familiar with. In fact, Ivory was perhaps just as, or even more
nervous than Schwambart about the whole idea, but years of
performing had taught her how to fight against those feelings.
"And I understand if you're nervous about it," Ivory decided to
address the issue, leaning forward as she propped herself up
with her front hooves. "You just gotta be confident in yourself.
I'm sure you've heard that whole thing before."
She paused for a moment as she tried to arrange her words
properly. It suddenly dawned on her that she wasn't all that
great at pep-talks. Ivory giggled softly... "How about this: if
you're more comfortable with it, you can sit back and watch this
one. And then you'll have a whole month to decide if you want to
join me for the next one. We can do other things in the
meantime, if you're up for it." Ivory paused again, this time
debating her own feelings on the matter. She really wanted
Schwambart to perform with her, but she also didn't want it to
be the only time they saw each other.
"I know it's been awhile since I've seen you last, but I really
would like to see more of you."
Now where did that come from? That wasn't how she had worded it
in her head, and it was almost certainly too forward. Caught off
guard by her own statement, Ivory broke eye contact and stuffed
a brownie in her mouth in a not-so-inconspicuous attempt to hide
a slight blush.

What's going through his head indeed. Well, it's a flurry of
activity, that's for sure. So furious that he can really not
make head nor tail of half of them. They half-finish before
switching to another thought. It wouldn't be so bad if- She is
awfully nice, and I kno- When did I last eat, I'm really- I
think my leg is fall-
He calms a little bit when she says that he could just watch the
first time. Yeah. That would probably be best. Yes. Just
watch. See if he likes it, if it's something he might be able
to do. He smiles and nods uneasily in agreement. Should work.
...do other things in the meantime. Wait, was she...
...really would like to see more of you.
"That...that...sounds r-really...n-n-n-nice..." he manages to
squeak out, his cheeks a raging inferno of red, before his mind
shuts off completely.
...Come on. There should be a joke about more of him,
cloning...duplication...anything. It's practically audible when
his brain grinds to a halt, leaving him looking blank and lost.
Uh...um...deep breath...
...He needs to get out of here. Last time, the mare left. This
time, he's in her house. She's not likely to leave.
"...GOTTA GO!" he practically shouts before his survival
instinct kicks in in full force and he leaps up from the couch,
running for the door, escape the only thing on his mind. He
doesn't even grab his bag on the way, but at least it catches on
his hind leg and it ends up following him. He crashes heavily
into the closed door before remembering that, right, that needs
to be opened first. He fumbles with the knob for an agonizingly
long moment, then he's running outside, away, as quickly as he
can.
