Re: Tech Tock, Would You Look at the Time?

The wink received nothing more than a blink, Haywire nodding at
her gratitude for the help then broadening his smile at her
compliment for his careful and destroys hooves, "Thanks! Like I
said, I've got a lot of practice with this kind of stuff, so I
guess I just learned how to be careful with my hooves when it
came to first aid." Her leaning closer and half lidded eyes
caused his smile to shrink a little, the inventor blinking in
confusion as he wonders if she's suddenly feeling tired over
something.
Bubo gives a short series of chirps when he notices the same
visitor as Clarity, Haywire catching onto the heads up and
finding the stallion himself then standing back up onto his
hooves. Oh! Another visitor! Two on the same day? Tech Tock is
busy this week! Haywire was also surprised over how the stallion
had just walked into his workshop without at least knocking
first. Most ponies often tried to poke his front door with a
yard stick first before daring to actually try to enter. Hay...
wasn't sure how he felt about strangers just walking in
actually... He received so few visitors around this here that he
supposed he didn't really think about such an occurrence very
often.
Anywho, after letting Clarity introduce him as the owner, Hay
smiled and gave a wage to the stranger while Bubo fluttered over
near the new stallion, him landing on an empty barrel by the
door and giving a cry hello, "Hi! I'm Haywire! Welcome to Tech
Tock! What brings you here? Need some help tunneling to the
center of the planet? Or- oh! Did you want to go to space!?
Please say you came here to go to space!!!" Haywire, now excited
by the idea, began to bounce on his hooves, grin threatening to
split his entire head in half.

Ironfire paused in his stride, looking between the flirtatious
mare that must be nearly a decade younger than him, and the
apparent owner of this store with rather large ambitions. The
gears in his head turned slowly for a few moments, wondering if
it was, in fact, too late to run somewhere safe. Like Ponyville.
Or potentially the Crystal Empire. Eventually his head began to
catch up, albeit slowly, with the current situation as he began
to work out just what exactly to do. And running wasn't an
option.
"Er... right... well then..." he fumbled, mostly buying himself
a little time before clearing his throat, "may as well clear the
air. I'm Ironfire, a blacksmith. I'm unsure of how a pony would
make a living bench pressing buildings..." he paused, going
slightly thoughtful before shaking his head. He was here for a
reason, "as for the trip to space, I'll have to pass, good sir,"
he apologised, "but maybe you can do me a favour," he asked,
levitating a single poster out to show him, "I'm helping a
certain pony try and rebuild her reputation. Would you mind at
all if I put a poster here to display for your customers?"

Haywire's bouncing ceased, his shoulder slumping a little as his
grin turned into a small dissapointed frown at the news of
Ironfire's lack of interest in rocketing skyward into the great
unknown. At the mention of how Hay could still help the visitor
though, the little green stalions ears perked up a little and
his smile, while not nearly as grinningly huge as before,
returned, him being more than willing to lend a hoof with
whatever could help with. The request though... Well... Hay
didn't think he'd be much help with this reputation thing.
Looking at the poster, he saw no reason why he would say no to
letting somepony post it up onto his front window or something,
but there were two problems. One: the inventions inhabiting Tech
Tock would most likely see it as an act of vandalism totheir
home and probably, before very long, try to eat the poster or
some such. And two: Haywire... didn't exactly get visitors
here... much less customers... Like he'd noted earlier, two
ponies coking buy made this week a busy one, so his lack of any
real traffic, especially when most ponies actively warn against
coming around his workshop, made this a poor choice for
advertising things. Still, if it would make this new guy and
whoever the poster was for happy... "Um... Sure, I don't mind."
He replied, already believing he could hear several inventions
start to hiss and rattle in disapproval. "You can go ahead and
slap this wherever you think would be best. Also, you Kay want
to duck for cover, cause you just made that fire blastey mcgoo
behing you really angry..." Hay wasnt lying, the blastey blast
hot make device of machines soon after his warning preparing to
give off ssecond blast similar to Tue first that had attempted
to hard boil his frozen egg thing.

"What? How could you not make a living bench pressing
buildings? I'd pay to see that. You'd be set for life! Who
wouldn't want to pay to see a strong, hoofsome stallion like
yourself show off his rippling quads? Dummies, that's who. Not
that pressing buildings is the only way to show that off," she
continues with a wink. "But it looks like you could do it
fairly easily."
Her ears perk up when the fire machine starts giving a fit in
preparation to go off. "But yeah, you might want to move," she
says, backing up behind Haywire when she hears it. Made it
angry? That's ridiculous. It's a machine. Sure, the bird
might be able to act emotional, but fire machines just shoot
fire. They don't think or feel or play chess. Silly Haywire.
"Fire is not my idea of an ideal vacation locale."

"Fire?" Ironfire questions, turning to look at the pony's source
of worry, his horn glowing faintly. Sure enough, a strange
mechanical contraption spewed flames in his direction, the
flames themselves stopping a few inches short of actually
burning the stallion, "I'm a unicorn that spends most of his
life around fire and metal. I think I can handle something like
this," he chuckled, watching the flames closely, "you said
'angry', right? These things sentient or something? Because I'd
like to warn this one about playing with fire..." he cautioned,
before continuing on, "but I thank you for your help. I'll put
up a couple then, one inside and one outside,"

The fire blasty 2000 mega ultra master of heat device machine,
was not amused by this negation of its power, it recalling its
flame forces back into its core where they were snuffed out as
it regrouped and plotted its next move, its low growl being the
only sign that it didn't believe itself finished with the
stallion yet. "Okie doke..." Haywire said... actually a little
hesitantly in response, "you can put them wherever you think
would be best but... seriously, don't taunt my inventions..." He
said this with a worried tone, the inventor honestly wanting to
warn the stallion before the other machines in the workshop...
began to do what they were doing now, all starting to utter
various noises that grew steadily louder in volume as if they
were all plotting the most horrible of fates for the pony. So
Ironfire was fine with fire, that's fine, but there was a lot
more than fire to worry about in this building...
The egg refrigerator thing near the FB2000MUMHDM and Ironfire,
apparently wishing to help the stallion out of the potentially
dangerous situation while simultaneously answering his silly
attempt at trying to act as if the machines required a warning,
acted, its hatch, previously frozen shut, swinging open as snow
began to pour out of the egg in an avalanche over the
blacksmith.

Hearing the noises around him, the rumours began to crop up in
his head. Figuring now would be a good time to make a swift
exit, "Right, well, thanks for the help. I'll just pin this up,"
he pauses, putting up one of the posters within view of the
door, "but I've got other places to visit and-" he cuts off as
sudden noise and movement in his vicinity alerts him to the
machine, "Snoooooooow~!" he calls out, promptly getting buried
in the fluffy white stuff.

Clarity peers with interest past her inventor-shield as the
blacksmith negates the gout of flames with a glow of his horn.
Well, control of fire would be pretty useful for a
blacksmith. Not to mention this looks like a prime time for a
little bit of teasing. "Whoah, control of fire?
That's...hot.". She giggles while stepping back out from behind
Haywire. "Or not hot, in this case. Still. Can you make fire,
too, or...
Wait. What's that sound? It's...it doesn't sound friendly.
All of a sudden she's put in mind of a den of a wild beast or
the like. "Haywire, is...is it safe?" She steps closer to him,
getting quite close to him for a reason other than
flirtatiousness, secretly glad to have the security of the bear
still in her hooves. He lives here, right? Staying near him
should keep her safe.
She let's out a little shriek when the snow bursts from the egg,
clutching Hay and the bear to herself in surprise before she
let's out a relieved laugh. For some reason she was expecting
something a little more...malign than snow from the feeling she
was getting from the ambient sounds. "You okay in there,
not-so-hot-anymore stuff?" she asks with a playful flip of her
mane, stepping forward to dig him out.

Is it safe? Hay thought for a second as Clarity stepped closer
to him, the inventor looking over at her then back at the
stallion that had evidently upset his inventions. Hmm... For
Clarity? Yes. It was safe. Especially since the workshop and all
of its permanent inhabitants were fully aware of who was king
around here, them knowing better than to ever try anything with
a visitor who was both his friend and had remained respectful.
But for Ironfire? Well... Um... Not so much... Boo-boos may be
inevitable...
Hay was feeling coiled like a spring at the moment, ready to
move at a moment's notice to try and pull or push the, far
larger, stallion out of the way should one of the more
potentially harmful inventions lying around make a move. When
the hatch of the egg opened, Hay had almost moved from his spot,
being stopped only by how Clarity had shrieked and grabbed onto
him, Hay casting a quick concerned glance at the young mare
before looking back to find Ironfire... covered in snow. Huh.
Hay sat down with a relieved sigh as Clarity trotted forward to
help the stallion out of his chilly predicament. Inspecting the
egg thing from where he was, Hay smiled, happy to see that the
momentary tension had only led to what would probably be a
simple shiver and wet mane. The sounds coming from the
inventions of the workshop slowly quietted down, the collection
of machines and devices satisfied that the visitor had been
taught his lesson. The chilly egg thing, earning both Hay and
the workshops approval over its handling of the situation,
remained silent and motionless after delivering its fluffy cold
furry upon the blacksmith.
Bubo flew over and landed onto the egg to get a better view of
the pile of snow and pony, him shifting his attention between it
and Clarity as Hay stood back up and walked over, giving the,
now rather cool, egg a pat of appreciation before moving to
assist Ironfire as well. "Sorry about that," he apologized, "the
workshop can be q little testy with certain ponies. Shouldn't
happen again though as long as you don't, you know, provoke
them... Heh..."

Pulling himself out of the snow and shaking it off of him, he
looked toward the contraption responsible before looking back to
Haywire, "Y-Y-Yeah... I'll re-remember that," he stammered,
shivering slightly. His horn glowed briefly as a small flame
flickered fitfully in the air before extinguishing, "this'll
b-be fun," he sighed, "if you d-d-decide to go t-to the show,
I'll s-see you there. If n-n-not, I'm sure I'll see you b-both
again," he smiled, giving a small wave as he traipsed towards
the door, still shivering and looking forward to the warmth of
the sun.
