Re: Tech Tock, Would You Look at the Time?
By: Clarity Date: February 5, 2014, 12:44 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Clarity stops for a moment when Blubber falls to the floor,
clanking on the way down. She'd seen it fall from higher,
though, so it was probably fine. "And down it goes," she
mutters under her breath before resuming her steady progress to
the flamespitter. Hm. She hadn't seen it do it yet. What kind
of sound would it make? Would it be a froosh, like a rush of
air? Maybe a boom sound, or a bang. Or it could be a pop like
when Clair failed a spell. That hasn't happened for a while,
though. Hopefully it would be interesting, like putting all the
sounds together with an orchestral accompaniment. That would be
most impressive, and Clarity secretly hopes that's the case.
With one last grunt, she pushes it the rest of the way to in
front of the flamblaster and back off a bit. That's when she
realizes just how cold it was touching it, and she rubs her
shoulder to restore some warmth. Pay her back? Well, that's an
invitation for a pickup line if she's ever heard one. Maybe
just drop a hint, don't want to distract him from what he was
doing when she came. "Oh, I'm sure I could think of something,"
she says with a wink, then walks over to the inert metal bird.
"Buber, you okay?" She takes it in her hooves and tries
standing it up. "Sing me a song, if you would, to celebrate the
unfreezingishness hopefully!"

Re: Tech Tock, Would You Look at the Time?
By: Haywire Date: February 5, 2014, 3:13 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Haywire only kept up his cheery smile as the egg reached its
destination, him nodding as her response as the wink went mostly
missed and he figured that, whatever she could come up with, he
could always do his best to repay her kindness. Maybe shed ask
for a special little gizmo special made for her? Or perhaps to
borrow something else of his? Whatever it may be, Hay would
happily oblige. He chuckled a little at her apparent chill, him
guessing that wouldn't last long should the fireblasting
doohickey they'd brought the egg too perform its duty and start
warming things up.
Bubo, still locked up, wabbled as he was set upright, nearly
falling over a few times before he began to come to and recover
from his momentary malfunction. Haywire raised an eyebrow at the
name Clarity used for him, the stallion wondering if she might
have been referring to a second ninja ghost as he took a few
steps back and sat down while his built pet and companion
stretched back out his wings and steadied his balance. Looking
up at the young mare then giving a small shrug of his wings, the
mechanical bird spread his wings and started to sound a string
of pleasant chirps and whistles, hos song building up as the
torchy machine started to give a growl, it starting to emanate
some intense heat that clashed with the small chill coming off
of the egg, both sides now facing each other down in some kind
of temperature based battle. After a few moments, in a mighty
blast of flames, the fire conjuring invention roared put an
attack against the egg, fire blasting outwards and over the egg
while the heat easily reached across the room, Haywire wincing
and raising his hooves up to shield his face while his eyes
peered over the tip and watched as the flame mastering machine
attempted to prove that it was the one in charge around here.
Bubo's song was cut off as the bird fluttered his wings at the
sudden fire and noise, him hopping back a few times before the
heat started to lessen, the flames shrinking as the inventions
assault against the egg was slowly brought to an end. The eggs
outer layer was steaming lightly as the 'fight' ended, the fire
machine apparently deciding to now take a nap as it was
satisfied by what it had done.
Bubo gave a curious chirp when it was over, Haywire glancing
back and answering with a simple "Dunno" before standing up and
wiping some sweat from his brow and trotting up to the egg.
Well, the outer part was very clearly heated, but how was the
inside doing? Reaching out a hoof and touching the tip to the
handle of the egg's hatch, Haywire gave a small and quiet yelp
as he quickly retracted his hoof, him confirming that the handle
was, in fact, to hot to touch at the moment. Hmm... Maybe if he
went to the kitchen and picked up a pair of oven mitts? Those
might work...

Clarity nods with the whistling chirps, smiling. "Oh yeah, you
got real rhythm there, Bunny," she says, paying far more
attention to the bird than the growing growl. "Can you do
Classical Gas? I never get tired of..." She stops when the
sound from the flameythingie gets too loud for her to ignore,
eying it uncertainly. "Uh, is it suppose-"
Her question is stopped short with a gasp with the roar of the
flames, and she backs away from it and the wall of heat washing
over her with a short "Yipe!" In short order she's backed up
until she's knocked the door aside for the "kitchen" and hidden
inside, placing the door between her and the raging inferno and
peeking outside the open crack of the doorway.
She stays there until the flames die down and leave the egg
steaming. Well, that's a relief. She heads back into the main
room, not even taking a look at the room she'd taken cover in, a
huge grin plastered on her face. "Pony, that was sweet! Where
does all the fire come from? How often does it do that? Have
you ever tried cooking a roast in that so it doesn't take all
day? 'Cause I don't really have the patience for that." She
shakes her head. Oh, the possibilities of fire! And what a way
to get into..."hot" situations...
She giggles at her internal joke before scoffing at the way he
jerks back from the handle. "Oh come on, don't be a baby." She
walks up and reaches for it. "It's ea-"
Her hoof flies back to her mouth with a cry. "Grrmmmaaach, gha'
fmahtf," she says around her hoof. "Okeh, you can be a behby
ich I ge' 'o be ome koo." Why, exactly, did she think that that
was a good idea? Note to self, fire makes metal hot. And hot
metal is not easy to touch. She wonders how many times she'll
need to learn that lesson...

"From inside my invention silly," Haywire began to answer,
frowning at his very lightly burned hoof, "whenever it wants,
and yeah once, but it got kind of mad at me when I tried to
'use' it." He held his front hooves up and miles quotation marks
as he said that word, apparently believing his invention to have
been a little extreme with its reaction to the attempted
roasting of one night's dinner. When Clarity reached for the
hatch herself, Hay tried to warn her not to underestimate the
heat radiating off of the egg, but was too late to get a word
out and merely pulled back the hoof he'd reached out to hold it
over his mouth as he winced at her cry.
"Umm... I think I might have some burn ointment left in my
medicine cabinet... maybe..." He offered as Bubo fluttered over
and up to l Clarity's shoulder where he made his landing, him
more concerned over the young mares burn than his creator's as
Haywire had proven himself incredibly durable in the past. The
mechanical gave a small chirp and look to the young pony, both
meant to be inquiries as to how bad her burn was while Haywire
continued with, "Think you'll need it? Here, I'll go check
anywho. Be right back!' The small green stallion turned on his
hooves and trotted off towards the other end of the room as he
headed to check on his, often sparse, medical supplies, his eye
catching his kitchen as he went as he made a mental note to pick
up his oven mitts on the way back.

"Mo mo, ah gon' ckhin ah mee- Or whatever. Thanks," she says
around her mouthful of hoof before taking it out when he leaves
anyway. "It's not really that bad, Blubber. Just like I always
get with the stove." She puts her hoof out for the mechanical
bird's inspection for a short moment before popping it back into
her mouth as it begins to sting again. "Goo' birdi." While she
waits for the inventor to get back, she takes a moment to
inspect Blibben closer.
It tells her nothing that she didn't already know. So much for
the powers of observation.

Bubo gave the hoof a good look when it was presented, the
mechanical bird agreeing that the damage done was minor and not
really requiring any medical attention, though he also knew that
his creator would most likely want to give it anyway since she
had been helping him. At the compliment of being a good bird,
Bubo gave a small chirp in response and then a quick nuzzle to
the side of the young mare's face, him then flying up and over
to the top of the large rectangular object Clarity had set her
bags of food down near where he watched as Haywire returned from
the other end of the room.
Oven mitts balanced on his head and medical kit dangling from
his mouth as he held onto its handle with his teeth, Haywire was
smiling as best as he could as he approached then sat down next
to Clarity, "Okay," he said as he set the med kit down with a
small rattle of its contents, him unlatching the lid and opening
it up as he spoke and removed items from inside, "my medicine
cabinet was pretty bare, so I dug around and found this
underneath my Auxillius device... Or at least, what's left of
it. Let's see... We got ourselves some bandages... Band-aids of
course... Squeaky mallet... Half of a candy bar... Antiseptic...
A stuffed teddy bear," he gave the rather scruffy looking bear a
curious look as he pulled it out, its loose left button eye and
small amount of leaking fluff peeking out of its right paw
indicating some kind of wear and tear, though Hay couldn't
remember much about it. Shrugging, he offered it to Clarity to
see if she would like it before going back to the kit.
"Um... Needle and thread... plans for revolutionary steam
engine... Ah! Here we go!" He exclaimed as he produced a very
nearly empty rolled up tube of ointment intended for soothing
burns, him then giving a big smile as he showed it off to the
young mare next to him. "Here you go! Should still be enough for
your hoof. Want me to help put it on too? I've got a loooot of
practice with these kinds of things."

"What's left of it? What happened to..." Auxillius device?
What's that? Why would his first aid kit be under one of his
inventions? There are so many questions she has about that she
doesn't even know where to start. Seriously? A squeaky mallet?
The candy bar she could understand, having low blood sugar
could be remedied with that, but what would a mallet do for him
that couldn't even really be used as a mallet? Just squeaking?
And why...
A bear? What would that be...Y'know, not even going to question
it anymore. "Aww, what's this little guy's name?" she asks,
taking the offered bear with her good hoof, holding it up for
inspection before hugging it to her chest. "He looks a bit
worse for wear. What happened, did he meet one of your
inventions at the wrong time of day and now his insurance
doesn't cover his badly-needed paw surgery so he can't support
his family anymore?" What a saddening thought. Poor bear.
"Oh, could you do it for me? I'd be ever so grateful," she
answers, batting her eyes at him and offering him her hoof.
"I've never really had to, myself."

"I dunno," Hay replied, giving the beat another curious look
before glancing up to Bubo to see if he had any clue, him only
reviving a gesture of shrugged wings from the mechanical bird,
"I don't really remember seeing him around here before now.
Well, I think I spotted him a few times, usually in random
places, but I don't know where he came from or what happened to
hurt his paw. Maybe somepony accidentally dropped it into a box
or one of my inventions when I was out in the city doing stuff?
Hope whoever it was doesn't miss him... Anyway, since we don't
know his name, we can give him a new name if you like!"
At her accepting of his offer to help with the ointment, Hay
gave another smile along with a nod, "Kay!" He said, taking note
of how much she blinked just then and hoping she hadn't gotten
something in her eye after his invention did their respective
things. Rolling up the tube of ointment as much as possible, it
still being able to roll up at all being surprising, Haywire
was able to get every last bit that was left out and onto his
hoof, him then gently taking Clarity's hoof and spreading the,
hopefully still soothing and not old and useless, ointment over
the burn shed recently been given from his egg. His hooves were
well practiced in this so it only took a few moments before he
was finished, him then smiling again as Bubo landed back onto
his shoulder. "There! All done!"

Looking at the building before him, Ironfire couldn't help but
remember the rumours. And the usual sounds that emanated from
within certainly lent them some authenticity. He debated
returning to his forge once more, briefly, to get some armour,
but pushed that thought aside. It can't be all that bad, surely?
Steeling himself, Ironfire pushed the door and stepped inside.
Looking among all the various contraptions and bits and pieces,
his eyes eventually settled on the two other occupants of the
building.
"Hey," he began lamely, "I don't suppose one of you two run this
place?"

Hm. Her efforts don't even seem to faze him. Is he playing
hard to get? That's so cute. Not sure how well it'll work,
though. She'll see how far he's able to play that card...
She extends the bear on her hoof while Haywire spreads the
ointment on her other hoof. "Hm...a name, name name...How
about...Barlorrin the Brave? He lives in the madpony's workshop
of terror, watched over by Bribble the Baleful Clockwork Bird
with naught to defend himself but his bear claws *giggle* and
determination to survive! And now he must rescue the inventor's
newest captive, the beautiful yellow pony who needs only true
love's kiss to be freed!" She winks at the inventor as he
finishes with her hoof.
"Thanks. You really are good at that. Such gentle, skilled
hooves." She leans towards him and draws the bear back against
herself, half-lidding her eyes. "I wonder how..."
She's interrupted and stopped from finishing that thought by the
arrival of-
Oh. Wow. He's so big. So strong-looking. Could probably pick
her up with one hoof. Wouldn't mind giving that a try,
actually...
...But no. Now that she's had a chance to take a better look,
he's got to be at least 10 years her senior. Still, a mare can
dream, right? "Well, hello there, big colt," she says. "Well,
aren't you a strong one. What do you do for a living, bench
press buildings? Don't answer that. I'm sure you do. Well,"
she continues, rising to her hooves and gesturing with her
recently-treated one to gesture to Haywire, "you happen to be
looking upon the illustrious proprietor of Tech Tock, where your
silly limitations mean nothing to the onward gallop of
progress!"
