There are actually two libraries on the Academy's campus. One,
more modernized and 'cool', is set aside for the students. The
second is more of a traditional library, with old, polished wood
and enormous bookshelves that one can hide in. The students are
less likely to use this library, so it is much quieter than
Rayfield. The professors, scientists and teachers all use this
library for their own research and projects, so most of the
books here are beyond the knowledge of the students, and focus
primarily on medical documentation, legal paperwork, and the
like.
The very shelves themselves smell of dust, and the lighting is
poor. But the couches are very comfortable, and if a student can
get away with it without being caught, they can get a much more
restful time of it than in the more boisterous Rayfield.

Dr. Jacob Spenser
In an effort to better serve the students like Zinnia and
Yukito, Jacob had taken to collecting and reading the library's
material on PTSD, and now added to that PTSD specifically from
childhood sexual abuse. He'd studied it before, of course, but
there was always more to learn-- so, so much more to learn. He
had also begun to study more on manipulative relationships. He'd
seen a few red flags here and there, and having Erin be so open
about what her friends were experiencing added to his concern.
She'd mentioned before, probably entirely by accident, that
Yukito was hardly allowed to have friends over. There were other
things she'd mentioned, too, that he suspected were true... she
often used the word 'sneak' to describe things Yukito was doing,
whether it be with her band or with some of her other friends.
And he knew she didn't mean to say so much; she was always more
honest than was good for her, but sometimes, like now, he was
grateful for that. Jacob saw the red flags, and his concern had
piqued, and so he'd asked Yukito point-blank how he felt about
his current level of safety in his home.
His dodgy answer had not been reassuring. It had not been
definitive, either. Hence the research.
Presently, Jacob sat at one of the large tables, a stack of
books next to him to take home. But for now, he was satisfied
reading and making notations from a book called I Hate You,
Don't Leave Me, which mainly discussed borderline personality
disorder. It hadn't been what he'd set out specifically to
research, but some excellent points were being made in the book,
some that made his spine tingle.
Or it could be the feeling of being watched.
