Reese Middleton
"I don't suppose you're much into that kind of thing..." he
shrugged, still smiling, “But hey, if you're ever interested in
studying another fire-bender, I'm your reference guy. I've got
them all on DVD, even."
“Just say when and where.” It was her turn to shrug, “I have a
big screen at my place, but it can get pretty boring. Big house,
not much to do.” He tilted his head at her, surprised, to say
the least, that she had agreed. Not to mention, she was a very
attractive girl, and she had just accepted his offer of a
movie-date kind of deal, and then escalated it until it was at
her house. He figured she was as surprised as he was, and when
the look of realization flickered across her face, her eyes
narrowed, determination to dispel and delusions he might be
under. ”Maybe you should bring some of your friends. It could be
a whole group thing. Less awkward moments and such.”
Reese smiled at her cover-up. Mostly because, even if she had
realized what she said, she didn't back out. She didn't brush
him off like it was a courtesy acceptance, and she still wanted
to see the show he'd mentioned. Just not as a date. He could
understand that. He pushed his hands into his pockets, his
weight shifting from foot to foot. “It's more fun to watch with
a group anyways, in my opinion. And I've been trying to get my
friend Yukito to watch it with me, but he always comes up with
some excuse.”
“I know this awesome bakery that sells the best cupcakes, but
they’re really formal- flashy designs and such. If I told them
to make a um.. Avatar themed something, I bet they could. I’m
pretty sure that’s their whole thing. But we could make a mini
event of it or something. Maybe a sleepover? Maybe not because I
have this thing about people I don’t really know being around me
while I sleep. The last thing I need is some creepster...” She
trailed off, her expression a mock apology for the 'slip up'.
Reese actually laughed at that, placing his hand over his heart
and acting as though he had just been shot, wounded by her
words. “Aaand I don’t even know if you would want to or not.”
She let a little laugh of her own, and Reese shook his head.
“Just let me know, 'kay?”
“I dunno. A night of cupcakes, Avatar-watching, and hanging out
with friends? And then topping the night of with the chance of
being set on fire by none other than the great Jessica?” He
crossed his arms, considering, “I can't tell if that last one is
a negative or a positive. I'll have to think about it.” He
stopped and thought a moment, pausing mostly for dramatic
effect, then said, “Yes," nodding as though it had been a very
serious decision.

Jessica Seeley
“Maybe you should bring some of your friends. It could be a
whole group thing. Less awkward moments and such.” Jessica
added to her previous offer.
She smirked slightly as she watched him assume the
‘dude-position,’ hands in his pockets and shifting his weight
from foot to foot. Jess had seen this pose about a million and a
half times when she was speaking to guys. It was their ‘I feel
good and much more manly right now’ kind of a thing… or at least
she assumed it was. As much time as she spent around people,
she never really could pinpoint exactly what that was. Maybe it
was more of a dance. Like the grown-up version of a child
jumping up and down, clapping their hands when they get the toy
they just threw a tantrum for in the middle of the toy store. A
victory dance. The mental image amused her momentarily.
“It's more fun to watch with a group anyways, in my opinion. And
I've been trying to get my friend Yukito to watch it with me,
but he always comes up with some excuse.”
For lack of a better phrase, she completely and entirely ignored
the living hell out of what he had said, choosing to think about
how everything would work out instead.
The last thing I need is some creepster...” She
trailed off, realizing her rambles were borderline extremely
rude. Reese didn’t seem to mind her accidentally calling him a
creeper, though. In fact, he actually laughed at it, placing his
hand over his heart and acting as though he had just been shot
through the chest. “Aaand I don’t even know if you would want
to or not.” Jess laughed a little at herself, trying to regain
what little bit of dignity she felt that she had left. “Just
let me know, 'kay?”
“I dunno. A night of cupcakes, Avatar-watching, and hanging out
with friends? And then topping the night of with the chance of
being set on fire by none other than the great Jessica?” He
crossed his arms and she scoffed a little at the ‘great Jessica’
comment. “I can't tell if that last one is a negative or a
positive. I'll have to think about it.” He stopped and thought a
moment, but part of her already knew that he was going to
accept. He seemed much too excited to turn around and say no.
“Yes," he said simply, nodding as if he had just made the most
epic decision of his lifetime.
“Good.” Jessica replied, mentally deciding that if he was going
to play with her about whether or not he would go AND about the
thought of her burning him, she was going to play with him a
little. Taking a step forward, she winked, her voice dropping
low as if she was telling him a secret. “And between you and me,
getting burned by the ‘Great Jessica’ may not be such a bad
thing.” She looked up slightly to meet his eyes and brought up
her right hand to about her shoulder. Tilting her wrist back,
she could feel the energy quickly move up her arm, creating a
flame when it reached the air.
“That’s if you’re lucky, though.” She laughed a little for a
moment and stepped back again, waiting a couple brief seconds
before putting her arm back at her side, the fire extinguishing
itself once more.
“So, do you want my phone number or are you going to try to send
a carrier pigeon and hope for the best?”

an easy decision. He nodded, saying, "Yes."
“Good.” Jessica replied, before stepping forward with a
conspiratorial movement. Without thinking, he moved in a bit,
too, as her voice dropped low. “And between you and me, getting

arched an eyebrow at that, watching her hand slowly raise. He
watched the odd way she held her wrist, twisted just slightly.
Suddenly, a burst of flame rose from
She looked up slightly to meet his eyes and brought up her

surprised. “That’s if you’re lucky, though.” She laughed at
that, glad to have gotten the upper hand on him again. Reese
smiled, accepting the moment's defeat. He couldn't hide that he
was impressed.
“So, do you want my phone number or are you going to try to send
a carrier pigeon and hope for the best?”
He considered this one for a moment, "Hmm..carrier pigeons are a
bit old-fashioned, aren't they? If I was a bit more masochistic,
maybe I'd have you burn it into my arm or something," he winked,
then decided that was going a bit too far. Without further ado,
he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black sharpie,
holding it out to her and pulling his left sleeve back. "Or, you
know, we could use this," he smiled.
Once he had acquired her name, he gave her a little salute, "It
was a pleasure meeting you, Jessica," he said, his tone playful,
but his smile genuine. "I look forward to us bumping into each
other again, although perhaps next time it won't be as messy.
And I hope your leg feels better soon." He shoved his hands into
his pockets and sauntered away. Once his back was turned to her,
a grin made its way across his face that he couldn't explain or
hold back. The number on his arm had made him so happy, he had
forgotten the lonely feeling he'd been experiencing when their
paths had crossed. He couldn't believe they had been going to
the same school and never noticed each other before.
Timing is everything, isn't it?

Chevy sighed tiredly from his place on the hood of his Impala

was taking full advantage of that, his windows rolled all the
way down and his music cranked up loudly. He leaned back against
the windshield, tucking his arms behind his head and closing his
eyes as he willed the tension to melt from his body. He hummed
along to the radio, occasionally mumbling out the words
half-heartedly.

Serina Todd

As Serina walked out to the parking lot, she heard loud music
playing. She wandered further towards the music, curious.
When she looked over to the source, she spotted a handsome boy
sitting on the hood of a red car, apparently his. She knew
partly from seeing him around school(and partly from the sweet,
gushing Phoenix) that this was Chevy Baxter, Phoenix' boyfriend
from what she could tell.
Serina hadn't talked to him really, but from her slightly
prying personality and knowledge of who to ask about things, she
knew a bit about him.
Walking confidently up to his car, where he sat, leaning
against the windshield, humming along to his music.
When she was within a few feet of the car she stopped and
looked at him directly, not bothering to worry about how bold
she might be acting.
He looked like he might have been sleeping, Serina reached out
and poked him lightly in the leg. “Heeeeeeeeey?”
“You're- Chevy, right?” She said, raising her voice to be
heard over the music, she paused before saying Chevy, even
though she was absolutely sure of herself.
Then she smiled at him, reaching her hand out to shake, her
smile widening as she looked at the boy's eyes. He had a nice
line of eyeliner around his eyes, making them stand out nicely.
She leaned forwards, her eyes widening, showing off her own
thick coating of makeup around them. “Why are you all alone?
Where'd Phoenix dance of to?”
She said, her finger lightly tracing the edge of the car, then
she glanced down. There was a light line where her finger had
traced, she frowned and wiped it off with her coat sleeve. “What
a nice shade of red....” she mumbled to herself, but she was
close enough she knew he'd probably heard her.
She looked inquisitively up at Chevy, she knew a lot of people
at the school, but since she had just started at the beginning
of the semester here, a few people had managed to evade her,
like Chevy.
