Thomas "Phoenix" Hutchinson - Reinforced Regeneration

Full name: Thomas Liam Hutchinson, goes by "Phoenix"
Age: ~17
Physical description: Healthy blond hair with long bangs that
fall almost into his eyes, tapered up close to his head. Big
hooded eyes, the color of blueberries. Deep pink lips, not thick
but prominent. A long but rounded nose. Slightly crooked teeth
-- though not up-to-par with the appearance requirements of
society, it gives his smile a touch of humility. Standing at six
feet and a bit athletic but not muscular; he has to work to keep
his body healthy, but it tends to work with him pretty well in
more recent years. His posture is generally very confident and
fluid -- he has very little anxiety socially and it shows
through in the way he interacts physically with others. He is
also known for contact with others -- putting his hands on their
shoulders, wrapping his arm around their neck/waist, grabbing
their hand, patting their cheek or tapping them on the nose --
in an unconscious effort to keep the people around him
interacting with him.
Character's Personality/Background Info: While he can be
contained, sometimes, he tends to be as expressive as possible
the rest of the time. He is known for not handling delicate
subjects delicately, but he is known for his determination to
understand others and encouraging them to confide in others --
whether it's him or not. He is socially very out-going, and has
very few real secrets -- and, even those, if he was asked
directly, he would answer honestly. He is difficult to offend
and slow to be protective, and, in the case of a big argument,
he prefers to fade into the back with quiet, sad people rather
than try to take on loud, angry people. He once said that he
would harbor a fugitive if they were a beautiful victim -- he
may not understand why they did what they did, he would still
want to give them a second chance and he would still feel for
them.
When Phoenix was younger, he was a bit more quiet and reserved.
It was his twin, Dilara, that was the open-hearted, out-going
one. The two of them had grown up to compliment each other and
brave the world together. When they began elementary school,
teachers and friends of their parents them knew they would be a
promising team, as Dilara could get Phoenix to talk to others
and Phoenix could help Dilara weather other's opinions. Dilara
was motivated, and Phoenix was loyal. And their parents
encouraged this bond, even though they were very attentive to
making sure they had time apart as well.
When they were 8, they were in a school bus accident. Dilara,
among others, died at the scene, and Phoenix was among the
seriously injured. After working his way up from critical
condition, 4 years later, Phoenix was brought to the attention
of a notable doctor who was rising in the field for his
innovative work. Dr Hal Ramsey, brought in merely to consult,
insisted that Phoenix's medical vice could be solved as part of
his new "enhancement" program. Some deliberation followed, but
his parents agreed, hoping that Phoenix could return to normal
life. When Phoenix was 15, the majority of his enhancement was
complete. He was fitted with an interior enhancement to
reinforce his organs and bones that had been damaged in the
accident, as well as given a unique skin grafting technique with
special mechanisms in it to increase his body's ability to heal
itself immensely. This was, Dr Ramsey had put it, a way to
ensure that a sick boy never had to be sick again. This also
affects his ability to sense heat or cold, as his body regulates
it obsessively, so he more resistant to heat/cold but is also
often exhausted.
When his health began to rapidly improve, his mother gave him
the nicknamed "Phoenix", saying he had been "reborn from the
ashes". He also acquired many characteristics from his sister
Dilara, which his mother has explained is because he decided
that, since he had this second chance, he would live his life
for the both of them.
Enhancement: Reinforced muscles and organs (like internal
armor), thicker skin, mechanisms to keep heart/lungs regulated
in panic, as well as to improve healing process. It also
regulates his body heat extensively, which near-constantly
exhausts him.

If he has thicker skin, would this impede Reese's ability to
sense changes in heartbeat without Reese being in direct contact
with him? Just wondering if this will be a problem...

I don't think his skin is thick enough that it would impede
Reese's Enhancement. I think he would have to be wearing a lot
of pillows XD The slight buffer caused by Phoenix's thicker skin
is only helpful in protecting the mechanics of his Enhancement;
though it may muffle Reese's sense of Phoenix's heartbeat
slightly, I doubt it would make a significant difference.

I don't think it would stop his Enhancement, either. I agree it
might muffle it, but because it's based on Phoenix's skin
regeneration being amplified, and Reese's Enhancement can
identify pulsations or alterations in blood flow, etc, the
perhaps Phoenix would just appear 'extra' lively or sparkly or
whatever..lol
