Full name: Doctor Hal H. Ramsey
Age: ~35
Physical Description:
Hair: Very dark brown, falls just above his eyes and slightly on
the back of his neck
Eyes: Piercing ice-blue, commonly coupled with thick,
rectangular glasses
Complexion: Pale, slightly freckled in the sun but rarely does
he see enough sun to show it, obvious Irish heritage in pigment
Facial structure: Angular jaw, very defined cheekbones, thick
lips set in a natural frown
Build: Thin -- almost malnourished -- figure, a bit below
average in height
Dress: Simple black suit-jacket and slacks, pressed white dress
shirt, dark blue tie, plain black shoes, and thick,
pristine-white lab coat.
Posture: Stiff and tense, shoulders set as if under inspection,
hands usually folded behind his back or in front of him, walks
in steady strides.
Character's Personality/Background Info: Dr Ramsey is known for
his rather sterile attitude towards other people, but he is also
famously occupied with either his work or his son -- and, when
possible, both. He is often extremely difficult to read, though
most often interpreted as disappointed, disapproving,
accusatory, mildly irritated, or unconcerned. As a doctor who
has recently revolutionized the way people think about their
bodies and strengths, he is notorious for over-estimating his
own, though less openly and more in an implied manner. Having
risen from performing his experiments in secret to being one of
the richest and most prominent surgeons of his time, Hal does
enjoy his hard-earned status and uses it whenever he can to get
an advantage when he needs one -- which is as often as he can
make a believably reason up. Though he is seen as cold,
calloused, and cantankerous -- and rightly so -- Hal is prone to
fits of pique and irrationality that have frightened more than a
handful of people out of his service. For this, and many other
reasons, Dr Ramsey works alone when at all possible.
His greatest achievement, pride, and accomplishment, is his
adoptive son, Yukito, who possesses his most famous project. Hal
works tirelessly to improve Yukito's back brace and wings, and
he has become well-informed in nearly every avenue of science in
order to accomplish the feat of preparing Yukito for
full-flight. But he is also very protective of Yukito, having
become increasingly fond of the boy to the point where he nearly
considers Yukito his own flesh and blood, and his greatest
weakness often comes back to bite him when he will completely
change his plans in order to keep Yukito from being apart from
him for too long.
His own parents, and then his sister, all having died rather
traumatically, Hal Ramsey is very set on the fact that he will
continue caring for Yukito, whatever the cost.
Enhancement: No enhancements -- Dr Ramsey has a
near-pathological fear of being operated on by lesser-skilled
doctors, and has even denied having an enhancement to his eyes
in order to repair his rapidly decreasing eyesight (due to a
genetic degenerative eye disease, Retinitis Pigmentosa).
