She stood there, hugging her stuffed bear as the rains began to
fall. She was crying. everything she had known and everything
she had ever loved was now nothing but ashes and soot around
her. She did not care that it had been several hours since
everything had erupted into flames, all she cared about was that
the one last treasure she loved remained intact and in her arms.
Annie was strong, just the way her father had raised her and he
had raised her in the unforgiving wilderness of the wildlands.
Annie was unaware of the passage of time until the cries of men
shattered the steady sounds of rain around her. Annie finally
took stock of everything around her. she now stood in a clearing
where her home once stood, all around this clearing the trees
were gnarled and blackened from the flames that had not but gone
out in minutes past. before she knew what happened several
townsfolk had gathered, crowding into the small clearing trying
to speak to her. Annie did not know how to react beyond staring
blankly into the distance. she heard whispers from some people,
these were cruel whispers. some even going as far as to blame
her and call her a witch for the events that were incinerated
into the landscape around her. Annie ignored these voices
though, her thoughts now focused on the only individual that was
in stark contrast to everyone around her. he was a man, dressed
in regal robes, his skin was a color of blue like the sky after
a storm. etched into this mans body was writing in white that
seemed to glow almost jumping off the mans skin. and the most
defining feature was a large scroll upon his back encased and
never far from the mans reach. she couldn't help looking at him
till finally the man turned away and left the clearing, Annie
did not follow however she would remember this face so that if
she ever saw this man again she would ask him why he was the way
he was. but before she knew it everything that had transpired
this day faded into the recesses of her mind to be forgotten.

Annie awoke in a strange bed, to the sounds of a strange woman
whistling a tune her father used to when she was a young girl.
it had been several days since she was brought here to this
place. everything was strange and nothing felt right. When they
brought Annie into this new house they bathed her and clothed
her and fed her. but an uneasiness always fell when it was
getting close to the hours of twilight, Annie felt something was
wrong and had been for several days but this day in particular
felt wrong of a sorts. Annie looked around and soon a panic
began to take hold for she could not find her stuffed bear
anywhere. she immediately jumped from the bed she had been given
and began to frantically look around and under it. it took only
moments for the woman who was whistling whose name still escaped
Annie to stand up and walk over. she had a sweet voice almost as
smooth as honey and had a motherly tone to it when she spoke up
from behind her "Annie its o.k. I have your bear right here, I
just wanted to fix the tear in its arm so that it was as good as
new." Annie turned around startled by her voice, but it didn't
take long for a smile to erupt on her face at the once again
whole Tibbers laying in the outstretched palms of this friendly
woman. with the smile still on her face Annie looked up at the
woman and couldn't withhold the gleeful giggle the escaped her
lips. "Thank you so much, he is almost better than he was
before" Annie began to dance around swinging her bear around
the room all the while giggling. all the mornings uneasiness
gone in the blink of an eye.
Soon Annie found herself outside, rushing through the town not a
care in the world. She was completely oblivious to the stares
and the murmurs of people around her. she was lost in her own
world. the day passed quickly as Annie continued to explore to
reaches of the town she had only visited on occasions with her
father. new sights and sounds and smells assaulted the young
girls senses as she rushed in between buildings all of the way
to the edge of the town. she stopped before the forest, she
looked out into the wilds that surrounded her and she felt a
calm reassurance that everything was going to be all right. The
hours were toiled away as Annie danced through the forest she
never wandered far from the town always keeping it partially
within her view. As the sun began to set over the treetops Annie
began making her way back to her new home.
