"She is physically amazing!" Steve said as we watched through
the two way mirror.
"She's already destroyed one leather bag!" Jasmine yelled in
shock. "Hmm... Steve, I want you to go in and go to the punching
bag two down from her. Start weak but stronger than her and see
if she reacts as a challenge. Jasmine grabbed her notebook and
pen and the techie next to her told the trainer that Steve was
coming in and not to pay any attention to him through an
headpiece. Steve head out in his workout gear which showed all
his muscles. Jasmine watched as he entered the gym and set his
bottle and towel up and started practicing on the bean bag.

Sophia watched as Steve practiced on the punching bag. She
studied his movements and slowly started applying them to her
own bag, watching which muscles moved and which ones didn't. She
added her own moves to it, breaking the chain on the punching
bag. Sophia stared at it for a few moments before walking off
onto on of the benches, looking down at the ground. "I'm not an
animal, I'm not an animal, I'm not an animal..." She repeated to
herself several times.

Jasmine placed her things down on the table and made her her way
into the gym. Something had clicked in Sophia that Jasmine
didn't quite see. She signaled the others to leave and edged
over to Sophia, standing on the bench. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Sophia looked up at her, tears in her eyes. "You guys think I'm
an animal. That what you all have thought since I was born,
since my father brought me here. The only reason why I connect
with animals so much is because they have more humanity than us.
They live to survive. We take life for granted. And when we do,
people just leave and we don't remember that it is meant to be
survival, that it is meant to happen. People die." She wiped the
tear away. "How long before their bodies were found?" Sophia
asked.

"Sophia, you should know this! You'd have to have taken biology
to become a vet. There are seven kingdoms, humans fit into
animalia, we are animals. We may not comprehend things the way
beast species do, but we know vaguely nonetheless. Sophia, I
have to ask you, Fury wants to make a team made of talented
humans. It's not quite the Avengers but we sort out missions
that would be too hard for the Black Ops team. We were wondering
if you would like to join?" Jasmine extended her hand to Sophia,
offering her friendship and acceptance. She wanted to be best
friends with this girl, not just test subject and shrink, not
just cohorts, but best friends.

Sophia looked at her hand and gently took it. She compared her
scarred hands to Jasmine's clear ones. "Same species yet
completely different." She looked up to Jasmine. "I'll be part
of your...team. I always work better in a pack." She smiled
sadly. She had already lost two packs. "Jasmine, I was never a
vet. I don't know who told you that but I never went to
university. I did normal schooling before I realized my
connection with animals. I then went and worked with my father
at the clinic, furthered my connection." Something clicked in
her brain. "Wait, if we are all animals, and I can control
animals, does that mean i would be able to control human?"

"I guess, just don't try on me." Jasmine chuckled. "According to
your files, it says you were, someone must have changed it to
give you an excuse not to attend school or something. I'll look
into that later. There's some others I'd like you to meet,
they'll be your partner in future... missions." Jasmine led
Sophia towards her office, as they entered Steve and Axe stood
up. "Sophia, this is Steve Rodgers, he is also commonly known as
Captain America." Sophia shyly shook hands as she was
embarrassed of her behavior before. "This here is an old friend
of mine, Axe Marn. He has a talent like you, he controls the
elements." Axe winked and flashed his smile at Sophia as they
shook hands.

Sophia quickly scanned Axe, giving a small smile in return. "How
old were you when you found?" She asked, hoping he would
understand the term. She had met other similar to her and they
spoke like this. She had picked it up.

Alex blushed a little, glancing up at Jasmine nervously. "Um,
sorry?"
"Find your powers."
"Oh, I was only 17 I guess, I found out right before I
graduated." He flashed his pretty boy smile at her. Steve and
Jasmine looked at each other, raising their eyebrows. "How
comfortable are you two with helping each other practice? Axe
went to the Academy, didn't you?" Axe nodded at Steve's
question, but Sophia hesitated.
"Alone?"
"Steve or I can supervise." She shook her head at us, telling us
that she would be okay with her and Axe working alone. Jasmine
smiled at her and collected some files. "Steve and I need to go
now, we'll catch in with you later." The both of them walked
out, looking back until they were out of eyesight.

Sophia stood beside Axe, looking at their height difference. She
let out a small sigh and walked into the training centre. "How
experienced are you with combat?"
