Thank you for all these fabulous pictures.
The Japanese royals are smaller in stature than I thought.
I love the colours of the visiting dignitaries.

       From The Asahi Shimbun
Really In 2020 for a modern country, to be still hung up on
       this.
“Female members of the imperial family would still lose their
royal status if they marry but get a new official title that
lets them continue to perform their duties under plans to
address the thinning of the imperial line”
“One proposal is for female members to be given the title “kojo”
(literally, imperial woman), which would allow them to continue
to perform their official duties even after marriage to help
maintain the imperial family’s activities, sources said”
“The government is also considering points for discussion on
establishing houses headed by female members of the imperial
family by retaining their royal status after marriage and
allowing male descendants of former members of the family to
enter the imperial household through adoption”

Let’s hope we hear news soon on a date for the couple . A
       beautiful looking couple.
“TOKYO -- Japan's Crown Prince Akishino has approved of the
long-delayed marriage of his eldest daughter, Princess Mako, to
former college classmate Kei Komuro, saying that he respects the
       wishes of the young couple.
"If they truly want it, then I should respect that as her
parent," said Akishino, who turns 55 on Monday, in a news
conference ahead of his birthday. At the same time, he said the
couple has not done enough to create a "situation where many
       people would congratulate them."
The couple postponed their formal engagement in February 2018
after reports of financial trouble involving Komuro's mother and
       her former fiance.”

The article starts: TOKYO — Anyone who dreams of being a
princess should probably have a chat with Princess Mako of
       Japan.
She is going to get married to a commoner, but the pressure put
on her by the royal family during her engagement has given her
       PTSD.
How awful! I hope she can move on and live a happy life which
       SHE chose for herself.
