This couple seem like such a mis-match.
He, with his longish hairdo and softer expression, seems like a
relaxed person. She is always IMPECCABLE and robotic with a hint
of a smirk on her face.
She is not very likeable, is she?

I don't know enough about Kiko, but I also have that visceral
       reaction to her.
       As for Akishino: [emoji16]

The article starts: TOKYO — Anyone who dreams of being a
princess should probably have a chat with Princess Mako of
       Japan.
She is going to get married to a commoner, but the pressure put
on her by the royal family during her engagement has given her
       PTSD.
How awful! I hope she can move on and live a happy life which
       SHE chose for herself.

I am surprised this marriage is going ahead! Perhaps the
marriage was agreed to on condition of her relinquishing the
traditional lump sum payment and traditional rites (without the
       JRF's blessing).
(I cannot access the NYT article but here is the BBC article:
  HTML https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-58758317
       )
       [Quote]
Princess Mako will reportedly forego a traditional lump-sum
payment of up to 150 million yen ($1.3m; £0.97m) which is
typically given to a member of the royal family upon their
       departure from the household.
She is also expected to skip the usual rites associated with a
royal family wedding. If she skips both the payment and the
rites it will make her the first female member of the royal
       family to do so.

A lovely photo of the JRF when Mako was a toddler. Kei has had a
very tragic young life. May Mako and Kei have a happy and
       prosperous future together. [emoji308]
