Nipples aren't exactly tabu here in the States, either, but
they're not normally featured prominently in a formal portrait.
In fact, they're not normally shown in any formal portrait in
which the subject is clothed. Unless, of course, the subject is
a stripper...or anxious for attention. What I mean is, a
painted portrait isn't like a photograph in which the camera
automatically picks up everything it sees. The artist had to
purposely paint them into the portrait. The question is: with
Alex's permission or without? Did the artist look up from her
easel and ask "With nipples or without?" ;)

Tabu is probably not the right word.

No, it's a good word and fits perfectly in this discussion. I
understood what you meant and I agree, up to a point. Part of
our population would be horrified that anything associated with
human sexuality would be publicly on display. But some of our
population wouldn't care, some wouldn't notice, some would be
thrilled, some would be bored, etc. I guess I'm especially
sensitive about anything associated with an ultra-conservative
outlook these days because of the national embarrassment living
       in the White House. :-[

do you remember that painting featuring letizia, back from her
days in mexico (iirc)? this is what this painting reminds me of.
the painter captured alex' face rather well but the painting as
a whole is horrendous. if the purpose was to make alex look
       trashy, i'd say mission accomplished.

He is doing a lot of damage - to the US and to the rest of the
world! I followed him closely in the beginning, but I can´t take
it anymore. I almost get a physical reaction of repulsion when I
       see or hear him.
He is an unbelievably low person.
I so hope his supporters will wake up soon.

She obviously likes it - very, VERY much. I am not sure we fully
       know who Alex really is.

I think we do. The manner in which she's behaved since her
first divorce has shown us her true colors. I think that during
her years as a member of the Danish royal family, she was
"supervised" enough that her real personality wasn't often on
show. Since she's been on her own, we've seen the real Alex
       more and more. Unfortunately.

i think that the painter captured alex' face quite well. i am
not fond of the straps down and the boob display but her face is
       really good.
read somewhere commenting that the painting is actually much
better than what you see on photos.

At one of the birthday celebrations for Fred, Botox is grand but
is like a control knickers, the fat has to go else where , so
although the wrinkle know as the 11 is gone it’s created the
       four lines across

She needs to cut that mop of hair. It would make her look
       younger, IMO.

If she feels she HAS to use Botox, I suggest she finds a better
doctor or whoever injects the poison. This is really a bad job!
