Elisabeth turned 18 years old today.
She received the leopold order from her dad and delivered a
lovely speech in the three national languages (dutch, french,
german).

i feel that needs to be nuanced a little bit.
legally and officially delphine is now considered as albert's
daughter, not because he recognized her but because of the dna
test which albert now can no longer contest.
albert as such did not "recognize", as in taking an active step
to do so, her.
he did not have any other choice than to admit that the dna test
established that he is indeed the biological father. this is
also what the major papers here say: he "admits" and he
"acknowledges that the dna test shows that he is the father" and
"he will no longer contest that he is the father".
in his statement, he goes to great length to deny her in
everything else, stating that he never had anything to do with
her.
i personally feel that there's a huge difference between
recognizing somebody as your child and admitting that the dna
test established that you are the biological father, especially
as it is followed by a statement where he goes to great length
to continue to deny her in every other respect.
