Wow!!
that was very unpleasant to watch.
has letizia lost her mind? who would deny a grandmother a
picture with her grandchildren, not to mention behave like that
in public when you are in such a position?
letizia comes across as incredibly rude (parading in front of
sofia so as to block a picture), aggressive (that exchange with
Sofia just looked awful) and slightly insane (she seemed to have
lost it). but she sure was quick at attempting (though it was
far from convincing) some damage control by letting her former
"colleague and friend" "speak" about the incident.
a part of me wished that i hadn't seen this. it's one thing to
speculate, it's another to witness and sort of get "proof".

Marie-Chantal of Greece seems to have removed her Twitter
post... except that newspapers have taken a screen caption and
widely used it.

The news went into major newpapers abroad, incl. an article in
the New York Times.
This is from the French Le Figaro, which I am posting because it
has a good quality video. It shows Letizia's weird behavior and
interference into something that looks innocent.

Some people (on the Internet) commented that Letizia twisted
Leonor's ear, which prompted her to reject her grandmother's
hand. Not sure how true it is, but Letizia's gesture looks odd.

The girls remind me of pageant kids. Trained little ponies, fake
smiles, must hurt the cheeks - and soul.
I feel very sorry for those girls and am quite frankly worried
for their futures.

i feel sorry for them too. they are having a mother that seems
to be so obsessed with image, starting with her own, down to her
daughters", that comes across as controling and micro managing
everything... one can only wonder how it will affect them in the
long run.
i also wonder how things will turn for sofia who will live in
her sister's shadow and i'm afraid that it's only a matter of
time until the media will pit her against her sister.
how will letizia deal with them dating? will she be on their
backs there too?

The comedian interpretations were very funny. Thanks, Cara. :D
I laughed and laughed. The Spanish people might come together
in humour. 8)
It will all blow over; we don't know the fine details.
For myself, I view the public display of Letizia poorly. She
might not be at fault but it was poor form.
She seemed to publically be at odds with Felipe as she was
walkiing in also.
I wonder whether this whole episode would not have been
illuminated except for the comments of M.C?

A video of their arrival at church and entrance (you will have
to go through a couple of adds that can be skipped quickly to
access the video itself). According to the presenter Felipe
called Letizia because his father couldn't walk very quickly.

Glad you liked the comedians interpretations.
I personally think that this episode would have made the same
headlines even without MC commenting. Her comment just made it
more juicy. Letizia's behavior that days was just rude.
She tried to control the damage by letting her journalist friend
speak on her behalf but that didn't work much.
More damage control was done this week when Felipe, Letizia and
Sofia visited JC at the hospital where he had hip surgery. We
can see Letizia open the car door for Sofia and the three of
them look "united".
