Queen Margarethe is abdicating
By: Cara Date: December 31, 2023, 1:58 pm

Well, well, well.
Queen Margerethe will abdicate on 14 January 2024, 52 years
after she took over from her father.

And her abdication announcement comes just weeks after the
public speculation about the state of Fred and Mares' marriage.
Lots going on in Denmark these days. I miss Royal Chatter!

That's right, Chris. Got the feeling she felt that this was the
way to make sure that Fred is kept in check. Unless Mary
threatened to walk out. Who knows?

Miss the Chatterers too ... [emoji20]
Abdication: a total shocker but a masterstroke by Marge:
1. The duty shirking CP has responsibility squarely thrust upon
him: no hiding behind mummy and running off incognito for frisky
sleepovers with blondes - given his predilection for blondes,
why did he even sucuumb to Mary?
2. I can't see Marge being swayed by Mary threatening to leave.
How destabilizing would a divorce have been? The renegotiated
pre-nup Mary was allegedly forced to sign would not have
bankrupted the DRF. Mary is the workhorse in the relationship.
Mary in the fold represents stability - perhaps that factored
into Marge's thinking.
3. Christian has turned 18 years - old enough to become CP.
4. Marge is not well - pain from back surgery, reducing
mobility.
Elsewhere, the impact of the travails of the BRF on her
decisions since QE2's death have been discussed:
5. Rather a younger Fred take the reigns than an elderly one
(Charles)
6. The poorly handled but (IMHO) needed titles stripping before
being forced to do so (the BRFs Spare problem)
Marge is getting her house in order for its preservation.

Isn't it strange? Most of us were critical of Mares in the
first years of their marriage. Now the press is saying she's
the savior of the Danish royal family and Margrethe's abdicating
in an effort to keep Mares on the job, save the marriage, and
thus save the monarchy. Fred's not coming out of this looking
even half-way good, is he? Where's the supposed girlfriend
from...Spain? Anyone know anything about her?

Fred's "friend" is alledgedly a mexican socialite living in
Madrid and if I recall correctly she is or was on some kind of
show on TV.
Fred's really messed that one up. So much of the talk and
articles about him becoming King is linked to the supposed
affair he had with her. He comes across as a fool. Waiting for
his wife to go to the UN in NY to visit his "friend"... leaving
the children on their own. Coming from the man that whined about
how his absentee parents.

Cara, you say "had" with her. Do rumors say this is something
he did in the past, or is he supposedly still seeing her...or
someone else? And an affair with a Mexican woman living in
Madrid? Lots of travel involved in that relationship! It would
have been more convenient if he'd hooked up with a woman living
in Copenhagen, but the heart (or some other part of the body)
has its reasons, I guess.

Oops. True. I said "had". Truth is that i do not know if he had
or has an affaire with the lady, whose name is Genoveva Casanova
(I am not making that up!).
What I read was that he spent the weekend in Madrid, he and his
friend were seen walking in Madrid and leaving a restaurant
together, then head to her apartment where he spent the night
and left in the morning. It's said that he ditched his security
detail, he was spotted and photographed leaving her apartment,
draggind his suitcase and - at a bus stop waiting all by himself
for a car to pick him up and, I guess, drive him to the airport.
He put Denmark in the headlines for all the wrong reasons,
during the Spanish state visit, and now with Marge's abdication,
with outlets linking his becoming King to an attempt by his
mother to save his marriage.
All this happened while Mary was at the UN in New York for a
work event and while his youngest daughter had her stage debut,
which he missed, and days before Felipe and Letizia traveled to
Denkmark for an official visit.
His Spanish escapade made the headlines during the Spanish visit
in Denmark. Talk about awkwardness! I would love to know when
Felipe and Letizia were informed of the headlines before their
trip, before it went to press, or if they were caught by
surprise. The same question would apply to the DRF.
I was about to write that Fred comes across as a fool but that's
not exactly it. He is a fool for sure. But he was also careless.
He comes across as incredibly selfish and self-centered.
Marriages break down and affairs can happen but waiting for his
wife to travel abroad to represent your country leaving the kids
on their own to pursue his "own happiness", after having
extensively complained how heartless and absent his parents
were, doesn't make him look good at all.
Here's a little bit more about the lady

There are a lot of people on Twitter and elsewhere who say,
well, there's no proof, no one saw anything other than a
platonic relationship. People do not want to believe the
perfect couple have any issues. IMO, if it walks like a duck
and talks like a duck....
My biggest question is who called the press?????
It seems that all of the chickens have now come home to roost in
Denmark with the forcing of Fred to take the throne I believe he
still does not want. I am worried for Fred, for Mary and for
their kids especially.
