What an emotional, glorious day. The funeral service had so
many personal connections to the queen: the flowers in the
wreath on the coffin, the hymns, the reminders and references to
vows the queen made to the public during her life, etc. I felt
like a guest at the funeral of a friend. The official
activities and military precision were impressive, of course,
but I loved the small touches that made the service recognizable
to us normal folks: the Royal Canadian Mounted Police leading
the procession down the Mall, the variety and uniqueness of all
the uniforms worn by the marching representatives from the
Commonwealth military groups, the bagpiper in the Abbey, the
Buckingham Palace staff standing outside as the procession
passed the palace, the Household Cavalry with their horses lined
up as the hearse started its trip from London to Windsor. If
the rest of Charles' reign carries on like the first 10 days,
he'll be a good king.

I agree, Cara, it was all very beautiful. It was close to
perfection just like Elizabethīs reign was. What a queen. I
canīt help thinking that we are lucky to have lived in the
Elizabethan era.
I also agree that Charles will be a good king - and Camilla a
brilliant queen. They are a strong team. All the best of luck to
them.

She was a fantastic queen. We can count ourselves lucky we had
her in our lifetime. She will go down in history as one of the
most remarkable monarchs.

I was heartbroken at her death - of course she was 96 and led a
long full life, but she was always there, it seems. Such a
remarkable life.
I was struck by the double rainbow that appeared over BP when
here death was announced.
