saw a little snippet of QEII being interviewed about her
coronation. for the occasion, the crown was
i learned that only three persons are allowed to touch the
crown: the Queen/King, the archbishop (Canterbury?) and the
person taking care of the crown jewels.
but what was really cute was that she talked about two pearls on
the crown that were worn as earrings by QE the 1st. QEII said
that those pearls looked sad which was understandable because
pearls should be worn, they needed warmth. that's something I
can completely understand and buy... the interviewer on the
other hand didn't really know what to do with it!
she also said that she was at the same time the witness of a
coronation and the subject of one which was quite extraordinary.
it was really interesting to hear her talk about that, being

a single ray of sunshine shone down on the Queen's coffin, as
hundreds of thousands lined the streets of Edinburgh to bid her
       farewell

Princess Elizabeth (future QEII) and Princess Margaret speak to
children across the world during the Second World War. Well,
mostly the future QEII with Margaret saying good night at the
       end. Very moving.

watching the procession on the BBC channel. i guess this is the
       procession from Buckingham to Westminster.
truly fit for a queen. and the crown on the coffin, with the
dangling earrings of Queen Elizabeth the first. those earrings
she talked about in that interview i mentioned in an earlier
       post.
i wonder how long ago they put all the details of this together
and if they had different scenarios (passing away in Balmoral,
Sandringham, Buckingham, etc.) or if some decisions were made at
       the last minute.
love that Anne is wearing her uniform. glad to see that both
Andrew and Harry do not wear theirs (it would not have felt
right if andrew wore his and not the other one). though, in this
instance, since they both served in the army, i feel they could
       have both worn theirs.

I've often read that plans for the entire 10-day funeral have
been in place for years...and were reviewed and updated
regularly. But an unexpected error could ruin a complicated
series of events such as we've seen so far. But one never has,
has it? The Brits are the best in the world at producing
meaningful, emotional, prideful national events that run like
clockwork. I think QE would be proud.

       Thank you Chris.
She would definitely be proud. They can all be. And she deserves
       every second of it.
