Love those dogs! Anyone know what breed they are?
I don't know anything about his political life, but based on
appearance alone I think President Higgins should be able to
stay in office forever! All he needs is a top hat and a pot of
gold and he could be on a St. Patrick's Day greeting card.

Beautiful dogs!!
Harry and Meghan are having a good time. I love Meghan's
wardrobe on the whole. Her shoes do look big though maybe only
in contrast to her extremely thin legs.
The variations of green I like.
Walking among the Croke Park Famine Memorial figures was a
moving sight.
All would feel it.
I think so many people of Irish heritage must have a forebear
who died or some who fled the famines. I have both.
Do Harry or Meghan have family member's lost? They were terrible
times and the English quotas and taxes were usually to blame.
So Harry might feel shame on behalf of the BRF too.

There is a effort here to get the famine reworded as genocide .
There wasn’t a lack of food, indeed the ports were full of food
being exported by the British . In Irish it translate from “an
Gorta Mór “ to “the great hunger “ which is better. A lot of
people feel annoyed that it’s still being called a famine .
I’ve seen on social media by Irish journalists that a lot of the
crowds in Dublin were tourists . At this time of year it’s true
and while I have no beef with the British and many Irish don’t ,
the royal visit is only getting the front page news as it’s the
newly weds .
The senator deleted her comment about Megan agreeing with the
abortion referendum, she will learn soon enough in politics and
politicians wil twist everything to their own advantage. I doubt
MeMe was well up on Irish affairs . She better make the most of
these days , soon her and Harry will be the Andrew and Fergie
and the good press will be rare.

You have made me read up a bit, Tigerben.
Interesting to read that it led to laws forbidding selling off
land to break up farms.
I had a great great grandmother who died in late 1840s (said
during a potato famine) and now I need to ask the family more
questions. They lived on a farm on which some remaining family
still lives.
Her son came to Australia afterwards for Gold first and then
farmed here. He was known for having a three course meal and
to grow all of his food - including jams, smoked meats,
vegetables, walnuts and for always using every bit of a beast or
hen etc. and all of a potato (just scraping it and not peeling
it.) During his batchelor days he lived like this- not just
after he had a wife to help. His frugal habits and hate of
waste came through each generation. My mother was so good at
growing vegies, making chicken giblet soup and all.

You must have a crystal ball, Tiger. The bad press has started.
There's an article in today's Daily Mail complaining about the
amount of money MeMe's spent on designer clothes since she
married. They added up the cost of the outfits she's worn for
her public appearances so far and for 15 outfits she's spent
$205,000 US.

I believe that big famine was due to massive volcanic eruptions
in Iceland. Awful. The population there was also decimated. I
mean really decimated.
An interesting fact. Iceland has higher IQ than the rest of the
Nordic countries, significantly so. I think simply, survival of
the fittest due to famines, it is horrible actually.

Designers right now could be insisting Meghan pay a discount
price. She wouldn't really know and they're getting excellent
value given the interest in this new kid on the royal block.
Also, Meghan might be hiring much of her wardrobe. Is the
arrangement always a purchase?

I thought I read somewhere that the royals aren't permitted to
take freebies (or discounts, I assume) from commercial vendors.
I guess that's to prevent it from looking like they owe somebody
a favor in return for goods or services. They certainly don't
have a problem borrowing private yachts or taking rides on
private planes, though. I suppose since those are all privately
owned the rules don't apply?
