Do you all get the impression that Meghan's been using her
family all along, just as she now appears to be using her
friends and employees? Get what you can from them, then move on
when someone richer, more powerful, more useful comes along?

Chris, I agree with you! This family is a mess! Seriously,
Preghan knows her family better than anyone else and probably
knew they had it in them to trash her globally by going to the
press for payment. If I found my rich handsome prince, I would
have done some major damage control with this dysfunctional
group. They didn't become this bad overnight, so I think that
Preghan should have beat them at their own game by doing the
following:
1. I would have brought them to England ahead of the wedding and
gotten them all makeovers and included them in the wedding.
2. Offered to pay all of their living expenses in exchange for a
signed gag-order - if violated all payments cease.
I think Meghan felt a lot of shame growing up and this is her
way of distancing herself from those experiences but ignoring
the problem is not working.

Sorry, Chris, by mistake I pushed the modify button, it should
have been quote. Now it says that your post has been modified,
it hasnīt!!
It LOOKS that way for sure. To do it to family seems extra
cynical. Maybe she has some sort of character flaw.
Her dad did have heart attacks. No contact - really?!
Cloaked, I canīt help feeling bad for her dad too - BUT he is
making money from all of this blabbing to the press, and I donīt
think it will make Preghan have contact with him, on the
contrary.
I am not getting this hot mess of a family at all! They all seem
nuts.

Clover, she should have included them and invited them to the
wedding!
Makeovers would have been needed for some of them, for sure. But
that would have been doable.
It is her family, and they ainīt going anywhere, she might as
well be a little proactive. The mess of them running to the
tabloids over and over is much worse.

Yes, if she included them in the wedding things would have gone
better for her - probably no trashing for $$$.
Now, I think there is no going back. This is probably why Prince
William was concerned about the match (if that story is true).
I hope Harry can handle all of this moving forward - its a bit
of a mess.

I think it might very well be true. It is customary the royal
houses do indeed look into the backgrounds of future, commoner
spouses.
The problems they have now with the Markles casts a shadow on
all of them, and I can imagine Will is furious.

The Markles are problematic, that is obvious; but what about
Preghan's mother's family?
Why was no one from that side of the family invited to the
wedding?
The whole thing is plain weird.

ABS,
Yes, royal brides have been closely vetted for years and years.
I think if they had done some digging into Preghan's background
a much longer engagement would have happened, one that she may
not have lasted through. She looks like she raided the palace
now that she's carrying a royal baby - always grinning. She
seems to be celebrating - this is what worries me. Harry looks
so glum and lost - worries me as well.
Her family does make the whole institution look bad in how
little they respect Preghan's status as a royal.
The biggest red flag is that it is not only her father and his
family she's on the outs with but her mother's family as well.
It's so weird and shocking that only 1 family member came to her
wedding. It makes me think that she's hiding something or is so
ashamed of all of them that she wants to hide that.
I had a smaller more formal wedding and my family isn't very
large yet a group of over 100 friends and family members showed
up at my wedding. Everyone I invited came.

Now a new comment from Dad Markle: He's publicly announced that
he might have done some things wrong, but at least he's never
played pool while naked and never dressed up like a Nazi.

I think Harry is glum because he can't do anything to stop those
two fools. Don't worry, Karma is a bitch and her family will
meet it.
The one family member at her wedding means nothing to me, to me
she had exactly who should be at her wedding her mother. What
does having a bunch of family member at a wedding prove?

I must be the only one here, but I really don't care or see
what's the big deal that only her mother was there. Maybe it
wasn't worth the trouble cost wise or the press harassment just
to say I was at a royal wedding.
My aunt has lived in Italy for over 25+ years, when she was
married 20 odd years ago NOT ONE of us family members were
there. Where would the money come from to pay for the wedding
attire; the flight; the hotel; food; and the list goes on.
Weddings are expensive especially when you do not live in the
state/country the ceremony will be.
