I've just been looking at the pictures of the state dinner and
am wondering why Fred turned up for the dinner in a uniform and
the rest of the men (at least Jokke) wore white tie to match M
Macron's white tie and tails. Is there some kind of rule book
that says the heir has to be in uniform but the rest don't? Are
uniforms optional and if so, why would anyone want to wear a
dress uniform with heavy, clanking medals and a scratchy
starched collar? Was Fred's tail coat at the dry cleaner's?

I don’t know Chris , I have read Marcon tails were a no no and
the wrong attire . If it was uniform then Joachim would be in
one . It’s like the memo was different for each.

I love Benedikte in the floral! The winner in the fashion
stakes of the French State Visit.
Queen Margrethe looks stunning in the purple and great in the
       day floral.
Marie's tiara, on loan, is lovely and she looks perfectly
turned out for the visit; I love the cream dress.
Mary wears the better red dress but the floral day dress is a
miss. Her black and white evening dress is nice enough.
Brigette Macron seems sweet but too orange, to my mind, for the
chic white dress, though her hair is suited.
I don't like the athletic vibe of Brigette's evening dress or
the red dress and coat which I think are too short.
The visit seems to be casual and friendly.

nice picture of the tiara that mauboussin designed with marie...
somehow it makes me think of mary's ruby tiara: little stones
       with a floral/leafy theme.
it's prettier up close actually. i am however a little
conflicted on the appropriateness of a danish princess promoting
       a french jeweler...

That is something we usually see at film festivals on celebs -
but royals at a royal event, that IS off.
Did Marge know about this? I am curious to know.

Royals wear fashion from other countries often. They receive
gifts of all sort too. I think Marie is French so it's fine as
long as it's transparent and clearly stated.
