With marches, bands, flags, parades, some dress in traditional
clothes, but less and less do that, so actually very few these
days (almost everyone in Norway does on their independence day,
so we are different that way).
Just a day out with family and friends, meeting people, talking,
hanging out, watching parades, listening to the bands.
A family day.

It's 98 degrees F at my house today. :P I wish I were in
Iceland, waving a flag and having a good, cool time. Hope you
had a happy Independence Day, abs!

I didn't celebrate it. Chris. I am in Denmark. Icelanders here
do have some celebrations, but I never go.
I didn't really like that day when I was a kid in Iceland. I
didn't like the march bands. I made sure not to walk to the beat
of the music like most did. ;D

I knew you probably were in Denmark, but figured you might still
hold Iceland in your heart so thought best wishes might be in

So funny. I loved (still do but not celebrating it anymore) our
national day, with its fireworks and dance parties. Our town
hall used to distribute delicious little brioches to the kids,
to commemorate the revolution.

ABS! Don't be silly. You weren't rude. The reason I enjoy
RoyalChatter so much is that no one's ever rude or nasty or
trying to out-do someone else. I just wanted to let you know I
was happy for Iceland on their national day. Don't worry! :)
Cara...Lucky you. I'd much rather have brioches than hot dogs,
which is what we Yanks seem to think is the thing to eat on the
4th of July! :P
