1 pigeon egg hasn't hatched

hi guys, one of my pigeon eggs hatched about 5 days ago after
about 18 days and the other hasn't hatched so it's probably a
dead egg, should I leave the egg in the nest or shot it out?

i would give it a couple more days and if it doesn't hatch throw

Toss it. Not going to hatch, if it did no milk for him...too
late.

To remove a rotting egg rubbing up against a squab for several
weeks is good animal husbandry. To have adequate nesting
material provided to breeders is also good animal husbandry.
Pigeons do not go splay legged because a rotting egg was removed
from the nest and adequate nesting materials are in the nest.
I have had MANY nests with only a single squab and the ONLY time
I had a splayed legged bird in there was when there was not
adequate nesting material. I also blamed MYSELF for allowing
that condition to exist. Now would you like to know how to cure
a splayed legged bird? ;D

orite lol my mate said its because I shot the egg so it didn't
have anything to rest its leg on :s... I blame my self then as I
only used straw for them to neat with, all I have done is put
its legs back straight, then put a cotton ball inbetweeners to
keep the legs separated, then I wrapped tape around both legs so
they could spread, do you think this should work? the squab is
layed in the nest because it obviously can't stand with taped
legs? any other suggestions

Here are 2 ideas to consider:
1: place some sand in a small sandwich baggie about the same
size as is the bird and plop it next to the birds splayed legged
side. (remove the other contraption) The idea is to BE the
missing nest mate and push back on that side of the bird.
2: Another method which I have done successfully is to take 2
plastic snap-on bands and put 1 on each leg, now use a piece of
string and tie one end to one band and then loop the other end
through the other band and pull the legs together so that they
are in a more natural position for the current size of the bird.
Be sure to tie off the other end so the 2 bands look sort of
like hand-cuffs. You will need to provide more slack in the
string as the bird gets bigger. Place the bird is a nest with a
good amount of proper nesting materials.
When done properly, the bird will have no problems and will
thenceforth develop properly if caught in time... :D
