Wednesday the 8-8-12, I noticed a cock bird on the floor corner
acting strange, quiet and still. I picked him up,put him on a
sheft and there he cought up a worm, Great whew! The worm was
about 2" long dull white in color, about half the diameter if a
wooden tooth pick. I just wormed the birds back in april with
ivimection, Dont know now what health is in these birds now.
I'm sure I wormed them all. I have some waszine, and
iveomectin, but not sure now what this case means. all other
birds seem o k. Wondering ? I might just single him out and give
him another dose. Any one had such happen to a bird before? Is
there a 100% wormer that covers all worms? thanks chesley

Ivomectrin is a great wormer. It is said to eliminate all
parasites. You should also worm a second time about 2 weeks
after the first dose. I remember there was a debate a while back
about how often to worm, it got a bit heated but I say worm as
often as you need to, many others will say once or twice a year,
some say never...whatever! :P

Ivomectin is good, have used it for years and I rotate it with
moxidectin as an avian vet told me that worms can build up a
resistance to a particular wormer if it is used repeatedly. The
moxidectin I use is Quest Plus, a horse wormer. It comes in a
syringe type applicator. On the back of the syringe is a roll
type limiter. Roll the limiter out 3 notches and add that amount
to a small amount of warm water, mix thoroughly and add the
mixture to 1 gallon of water. Give for one day and then withdraw
it. You can get Quest Plus at almost any feed store. I worm
every 4 months and it seems to work well. Another problem with
Ivomectin is that it has a fairly short shelf-life, so if you
buy it,then use it and put it on a shelf it may not be as
effective when you get ready to use it later.
Keep em spinning

O K, Thanks to you all for comment. No I didnt worm 2 weeks
later --seems like I'd know better by now. Somewhere i thought
it was to be 6 months later. I bought the iveomect for some
goats, and thats probably. oh I dont know. No excuse needed .
Just fix it !! Tony i was thinking about a debate of past,
and there were some more stuff, but I'm like Donnie about
memory. I cant find my truck at Wal Marts LOL. Matter of fact Ty
had ask question not long ago about wormming and I responded
with ivemectin. I belive its good stuff,I think this bird must
have got by me some how. Thanks Joeb `I'll put that note in my
favorites. I have now about 15 little ruby Jewls thatwill soon
need wormming but I want to wait a little longer on them.
Meanwhile everybody try to keep cool, Mr Cooper will be here
soon!! Thanks all. chesley

Just wanted to say about the worming I talked about 8-11-12.
Well finally got to worming birds with ivomectin. Gave my
hodgepodge kit of 24 birds 2drops each,like 2pm thursday
8-30-12, friday morn I purposely didn't fly because of maybe
stress of meds. I fed them and looked at a piece of plywood that
my feed pan had been on, and there were dead worms like30 or
more that I could count, All dead but still laying in poop etc,
Now that got my attention, I will worm again in 2 weeks, then
follow up with some probioatics, I've never witnessed that
before and probably would not this time if it wasnt for the
close proxmity of the plywood close to pigeon roost. The worms
looked like the one I described in previous post. I also treated
all birds with a canker solution about July. So I 'm probably
through meds now other than norm like vinegar dailey and
vitamins now & then. I guess this may help some other newbees
like me-- just thought I'd pass it on. ;D chesley

cabinate now. Thanks guys
