Hi Johnathan, it has always been my impression that portable
flyers are a small minority in the roller community.
Here is a picture of a portable box:

No, I haven't paid it a whole lot of attention. To do some
extensive reading you can use the search feature on my old
discussion pages and type in "portable kit boxes" and you will
get dozens of pages of portable discussions to read.

Johnathon, i tried portable flying this year with mixed
results and probably quit to soon to give a good it a good try.
I wanted to fly portable because I was getting killed by the
falcons, but in the end the BOP started to hit me even tho I
flew from different locations. I was thinking of quiting anyhow
because of the time invoved. I would spend 2 or 3 hours or even
more sitting in parking lots waiting for the birds to come down.
it seemed like there was always a few that stayed up longer and
it was never the same birds. I just didn't have the patience...
Kitting was also an issue if you were always flying in different
locations, after flying from the same location a few times they
kitted much better, so I think it was an issue of searching for
the kit box. Training was easy at least I thought it was. Again
be patient and fly from different locations right from the
start, you want them to home to the box and not the location. I
only lost 3 to training and that was my fault.. I flew in high
winds. I put my boxes on a trailer and it worked well. I'l try
to post a few pics....
