With the Hot weather , A few of my birds are showing signs of
Feather mite attacts, with looseing feathers mostly around the
back of neck area, and some in the front of the neck, Tell me
what you have used, (With Success) to get rid of them, I have
tried, Garden dust, seven dust, flea and lice powder, Mite
sprays from foys's, and it still seems to hang on, also have
Given them drench baths with a light mix of mathilon.
The next question is why do some birds get them and other's
bird's in the same kit box be unaffected?

Mites of all kind are a nuisance. The best solution is a
systemic. You are using topical solutions, meaning you're
putting the spray or dust on the outside.
I use QUEST, but Ivomec works as well. By getting the
treatment inside the bird the "poison" is spread throughout the
bird's tissues. The beauty of these treatments is that they
are broad-spectrum meaning they will kill a variety of pest such
as mites, lice and worms.
Two final warnings, though most don't think of this. 1) Don't
eat the birds that you've given a systemic to as the poison is
in it's flesh and 2) While I've had no problems with Quest, I
have had problems with Ivomec making the males infertile for a
short time.
