Ok I have visited a local flyer and see how its all setup and
have read the competition rules and think I can do this my plan
is to do it anyways. Now I got about 20 rollers right now from
my step father. They have never been flown in competitions and
he has had same blood line for over 25 years. So now I am
thinking of using 2nd loft which is currently sitting empty as
to acquire some different birds also. I would like to keep the
family of birds I have and the family I acquire seperate so I
will use the 2 different breeding lofts. I don't have a lot of
money but will have little in 2 weeks when a guy pays me for
rest of my racing pigeons. I am getting out of racing pigeons
and going with just rollers. So where should I go to buy some
established competition birds?

Find local flyers with good quality birds and then go watch them
fly and when you find birds that you like, then make
arrangements to buy them.
There are a ton of people who will sell you the best birds in
the world, but you will find that the best birds you will ever
have will be those that are given to you by an oldtimer, who
wants to see someone enjoy the hobby as much as they have.
This isnt a hobby where the most money willl buy you the best
birds. You can spend quite a bit but when it comes down to
it...its just not necessary to spend a lot to have nice birds.
Basically you cant buy your way into having good birds...I
know....I tried.

Hey Paul,
Did you like what you saw? As I've mentioned, there are quite a
few guys in in Indiana within 3-4 hour drive that flies some
good birds. Check them all out and then decide on where you saw
the "best" birds and go from there.
If you don't buy locally, then you have to go based on track
record. You could get birds from Tony here who runs this website
or you could get it from the numerous other competitors who
sells birds.
Anyhow, how did those birds of your father's compare to the
other birds you saw yesterday?

I liked what I seen with Jay's birds they did really well. I
think birds from step father will do good once I get some YB's
off of them and get them in kit box and stuff. Just looking at
maybe adding another strain then I can see which family works
best for me.
