Could be a lot of things but quarantine immdeiately from the
rest of your birds.
I have some 4 in 1 pills that I give... when that happens to a
bird. Again it could be a variety of causes, some of the common
ones are PMV and Paratyphoid....they can get sick like that from
eating contaminted food or drinking bad water.
Sometimes they are carriers of these diseases and it is brought
to the surface by stress.
Get it away from the rest of your birds and doctor it back to
health...usually in a week or two they recover with proper
meds....sometimes they are too far gone, I have had it go either
way just depends on the bird.

HI all. Is this pigeon young or old? Are you sure it's a cock
bird?As you refer to it as him. My thoughts are to isolate him
from the rest, as already said and watch his poop. You could
send some poop of to a vet to be screened, but the time it takes
might be longer than the bird has. If it's a young hen, it could
be suffering from calcium deficencey. Sometimes a young hen will
go off her legs, when she's laid an egg, due to lack of calcium
in the body, and it's all been adsorbed by te body to make the
shell. Any child calcium or old folks calcium liquid or tablets
will work. Just put the bird in a sling and keep somewhere warm,
while giving it treatment, will need to be hand fed, about
20maple peas a day will be enough. Can take upto a week to be
fully fit. It might be something more serious, but I don't
always jump to conclusions. Is there any other pigeon flyers
near you? maybe you can check around them to see if the've been
having the same problems. Hope all goes ok for you.

Thank You for your replys, I gave him a pill of Avertex broken
in halfs, in case it might be cocillious, but the last time that
I gave these pills, I noticed a couple of days later that there
Rectum was enlarged, and had to kind of Pop it like a pimple Big
3/4" white piece of ? came out looked like a big Maggot but was
solid did not move, and had a Small Yellow Head on it? Happend
to 2 birds, and they are now fine. I have No Idea what that was,
so I am afraid to use it again, but I did, but broke the pill in
Half, I,ll see what happens. He looks like he is OK! Now But I
know better, he can fly and stand, and he is about 3 yr,s old,
Thanks!

[/quote]The rectum enlarged and with yellow and white? Did it
look cheese? If so you have rectum canker and should treat the
whole loft for canker. Good luck :( Joe
