I wear a drywall mask if I am doing the birds with a shaker can.
In the loft, I hang the bag in the corner, so they do hit it but
there is no big cloud of dust. I should wear a mask all of the
time but I just can not stand too.
Take care my friend
Thom

I try very hard to remember to wear mask if i stay in p-loft.
Reason being many, but one day sun was shining throught just
right to show me the dust, shedding stuff they do ? Man, next
time the eagle flew i bought a bird brand box fan , installed to
blow from inside out, So when im in there i turn it on, releives
some nitro fume also. Bird Brand isn't a commercial or resident
Brand. I'ts just a red neck term for sayin,
cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap . lol ! it helps relieve stress like
when a perfect intelligent bird drops down on trap board, and
then doesn't realize where in the L he is or what to do next,
ya and hes last to trap, no food left, drops down early next day
just to try pulling kit down with him, but his behind does't see
feed untill all have checked in!! May need to post this
somewhere else, but it sure did defuse my B Pressure !! Wear
the mask now or later! Thanks Mr Tom for the mask thing,
chesley

I HAVE HAD VERY GOOD LUCK WITH PERMECTRIN....
THEY HAVE CAME OUT WITH A NEWER PERMECTRIN 11 ... IT WORKS VERY
WELL JUST BY SPRAYING ON ALL THE PERCHS ONCE A MONTH IN THE
SUMMER...DIRECTIONS FOR USE ARE ON THE BOTTLE BOOKLET
I JUST ADD A LITTLE COOKING OIL AND SPRAY ON MY PERCHS
THERE USE TO BE A PRODUCT CALLED ROOST PAINT THAT DID THE SAME
THING IF APPLIED TO JUST THE PERCHS...

Try looking on that well known auction site, There's always
something on there that can be used. There is a product called
endeco(spelling) it's a liquid that you put on the birds, just
like those flea treatments for cats and dogs. another thing to
try is, garlic in the water! Boil about a pint of water, take
one clove of garlic(a single piece from the bulb) chop it and
add to the water. Leave this to cool down for a day than mix
with the drinking water, Ratio 1 pint of garlic water to 5pints
of fresh. It wont rid them, but will stop them returning! For
red mites I use my dads old method. Get some beer mats, or
similar cardboard. soak them in creasote over night, then dry
them out. Once dried 1 under each nest bowl, will keep any
nasty, from attacking the young or sitting parents!

I mix 1 ounce of 10% Permetherin in a gallon of water and let
them take a bath about once a month and have no pest problems.
That way you don't have to handle all the birds. They do it for
you. David
