4 eggs

I just noticed that one of my hens has four eggs. I don't look
at them every day so I don't know when this happened. She is
mated so I can't believe that another hen sat on her nest. Would
she have laid two sets fairly close together. Her last hatching
is just about flying but not quite.

Jon, are you sure you do not have two hens mated. Has she had
fertile eggs this year?
Take care my friend

I'm sure her mate is a Cock because as stated her previous
hatchings are just about flying now and she still has the same
mate.

Jon do you breed open loft if you do your cock might be mated up
with two hens and they are using the same nest I had this happen
to me a couple years back see if all four eggs are good if they
are then that is what you have going on

I breed what I call a semi open loft. They are all paired in
separate cages until they lay their first round then they are in
a open loft. There are no un-mated hens or cocks in this area
and every pair has a box area. I can't tell if all the eggs are
good at this time. I'm also not real good at this because in the
past I have thought a egg bad only to leave it and have it hatch
later. Every hen is on eggs or babies now except for one hen who
has two babies that are just about ready to leave the nest. None
of the pairs seem to be friendly enough with each other to allow
another bird into their area so i don't know how another hen
could take over a nest long enough to lay two eggs without a
major fight. OF course I could be wrong on this point.

If you would have started this post today then there would have
been an explanation (APRIL FOOLS DAY).

NO joke. I looked at the eggs today and they all appear dark so
I think they are all good. If they don't hatch together I'm
going to be in trouble because I don't have time to hand feed
babies as often as very YB need. I guess I could wait until the
first two hatch and then trash the others but I really don't
want to do that.

Jon, I had one of my Ruby pairs do the same thing this year. As
it turned out the first 2 eggs the hen laid were infertile and
the other 2 just hatched. You should try to candle the eggs to
see if they are fertile or not. ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
