       Kit box for Butters
By: buttertup Date: January 17, 2012, 7:11 pm

Okay so Mr. Gene Donaldson informed me that he will be building
me a kit box for my birds. He is like a master builder, and I
have been drooling over his for a month now. I only have to
provide him some tin which I have as we recently retinned one of
our barns. He is not charging me, but I know this is not a
cheap build and we hillbillies are all about trade, so I am
going to give his wife an extra day of housekeeping free each
month until the trade feels fair to me. I am so excited I cannot
stand it, because I have to say I have been worried about how I
was going to train my young birds. I now feel like I will truly
be in the game, and should be able to train right along with the
rest of yuns' this spring. ;D

Buttercup.... now you can actually "talk" the "talk" and "walk"
the "walk". It's so good that your getting your first kitbox.
Hope this is just the start of a GREAT time in the hobby... God
Bless and Good luck this year..

Well some pics of my new kit box. It got here yesterday. Today
Mr. Rufus Donaldson come to make good on our trade, and took
away all my babies as agreed, so I have nothing to fly yet lol I
only owe him fifteen more birds. He says they look good, and he
will call me and let me know how they fly. Anyway,my kit box has
a drawer feeder and is actually two kit boxes together with two
seperate bobs and two doors. I guess Rome wasn't built in a day.

You may want to think about some air vents and a place for a
       settling cage. David

Butters the doors to release the birds should be twice as big as
they are it will be hard for you to get them to all come out.
the inside perches are not wide enough and to stop pecking and
fighting.also the wafer board out side will have to be kept with
a good coat of paint or it won't last no time.tin is not the
choice for a roof it is slick shingels are much better just a
few tips to help you not trying to criticize. Jeff

Ya, the paint and roof thing can be taken care of, but the door
thing may have to wait a bit. This was built for me so I did
not have too much input. I won't have any babies of my own to
fly for a while, as they are all spoken for on agreement, so
that should give me some time to set things right. I am buying
paint his weekend. Hey, you took the time along with Roller
Chief to advise, me and I only wish I had a nugget of wisdom of
my own to trade, but perhaps someday. Thank you much. That being
said, I'm still proud as a peacock to even have a kit box. I
have had to wait a long time to have one. Things come slow to me
around here, but I guess it makes those things mean all the more
when I finally do get 'em. ;D

The main thing is just get some good birds and get them in the
air. The little things will take care of themself. A lot of us
started out with a lot less I'm sure.
