Crows

I saw some crows kicking ass on a hawk today, if the neighbors
were outside they heard a celebratory "Get Some". Kind of
reminds of what the Washington Redskins did to the New York
Giants today.

All the crows around my place really beat up on the hawks. I
love hawks but I'm SO glad they are kept away from my pigeons.

Hi all.
I've witnessed crows/rooks/ravens attacking hawks.
They've done this a few times and are really fearless with
hawks. Over here in England our main problem raptors are the
sparrowhawk and the perrigine falcon. Only last week I was
watching the skies contemplating letting my cock rollers out
when the raven that was sat on my house roof, took of and
attacked a male SP, getting under the hawk it flew upside down
appearing to jab the hawk with it's beak. Corvins are very smart
cookies, my girlfriend used to work in the film industry, and
trained animals to appear on cue, ie the rat in the ducting on
the first tom cruise mission film. She loved working with crows
ravens rooks as they was so easy to train and had really good
memory, not only to the task, but to the person. Along with
rollers I also have a marine reef fish tank, and keep snakes
mainly rainbow boas. I have started to take some of the day old
turkey chicks that I feed to the snakes, and feed the crows etc.
I defrost the day before and around 1 in the afternoon throw the
chicks onto the low roof on the out buildings. The idea is the
crows will get used to food being there and therefore start to
group when I went to let the birds out, and hopefully protect my
birds from hawk attacks? If the hawk sees the crows it will
always move away, so if you can get them to start roosting and
breeding local to your area the hawk will find somewhere else to
hunt and breed. Crows and especially rooks will take young hawks
from the nest, that's why the hawk moves from the area if
corvins move in. As I pay about ten cents a chick, then I think
that little outlay will be a saving if it means my best birds
don't end up on the hawks menu. I've also witnessed seagulls
attacking hawks, they circle the hawk and dive bomb them, again
they did this allowing my birds to climb above the hawk and gete
to safety. Feed the crows is what I say. regards all yours in

hay john,
i seen 2 crows giving a hawk pure hell a few yews back also i
seen a bunch of smaller birds giving a hawk hell to i can't
remember what was the small birds was i was happy those days

Crows will attack pigeons too.
It happens to me every year while training youngbird kits. For
some odd reason the birds with any pattern of recessive red
coloring are the main targets.

in my kneck of the woods the sparrow hawk gives us most of the
problems!! we have noticed if the hawk is about it gets
followed then chased if it makes a kill first by the buzzards
that we have lots of, then the crows and then the seagulls join
in to steal any kill the hawk may make Rob
