It is nice to see Tonys birds have come this far that we can go
back to good birds in his peds it proves to me and I am sure a
lot of others they are well worth our time to try out as a
family.
Mr Thom has realy put the time in on Tonys birds and has proven
they will do very well in the air with the right person behind
them.
Raul keep up your hard work with these birds I for one would
love to hear how well you will do with them and please let us
know what not to do also so my self and my wife can keep moving
a head with them Mr Thom has helped us alot so far and I hope we
can all keep moving this family a head to one day see them
compete.
Joe I agree it is very hard to compair this family to the pensom
line of birds but you have to start some where with a young
family as the rubys are compaired to the pensom family but I
have a lot of respect for people that work so hard to prove it
like Raul and Mr Thom

Scott....I also clammed the NBRC 644D hen as a strong part of
Tony,s Ruby family and have nothing but respect for Thom and
Raul. Raul should show strong strides in his Ruby breeding and
culling program with his (no bird of pray) location of his
hobby.Take full advantage of that gift Raul. Best of luck to
both of you in the hobby. :) Joe

Hi Scott, Its pleasing to know that we who choose to breed and
fly Tonys line of birds, have a great support system provided to
us courtesy of Tony by way of posting on our designated section
"Flying and breeding Ruby Rollers" ;D We may not be champion
fliers or breeders but we certainly have the hearts and minds of
champions! Our birds are just as good as any other line of
compitition rollers! THanks for the kind words of me, I dont
think I am qualifed to give anyone advise on how to fly Rubys as
I am just a novice back yard flier. I can only tell to those you
are willing to listen of my personal experiances with these
birds, what works or doesnt work for me!
I agree with you 100%, Thom is a dedicated individual whos hard
work and determination has proven the Ruby Line have what it
takes! Paul Fullerton would be the a good person to ask for
advise on flying Rubys, he is a top class flier/compeditor who
has flown Rubys any which way you can! Maybe next year with some
more flying experiance under my belt flying Rubys I will put up
or shut up by flying in comps ;D

Joe like wise I have nothing but great respect and admeration
for you! Yes my friend I will use my advantage of living in a
BOP free paradise to the best of my ability ;) I wish at times
I had guys like you and Thom near me with the knowledge and
Integrity to help others! As you know I live in a one horse
town, where it is only me who flys Rollers! I have to depend on
reading books and every piece of info on flying and breeding
Rollers from what is posted here, and then rely on my intuition
to intupret what I have read to put to good use! Its not the
same as having the support and hands on advise of some great
guys like you and Thom to show me the ropes. Are you sure I
couldnt convince you and Thom to move to Bermuda and fly with me
:D

Hey all, I am in total agreement that 644D was a great bird but
I doubt Tony thought any more of her then any other of his other
stock birds at the time. I want to make the point that any bird,
stock or kit is only worth what it can produce in context with
your present program be it breeding or flying. Looking at
pedigrees can be fun and brings back fond memories especially if
the bird was one you raised or that of a close friend. However
simply seeing a bird on the pedigree does not guarantee that it
or its progeny will perform. Only through selection along with
breeding can we gain insight of what to expect from a breeding
pair. Even then, there are no guarantees of success. Starting
with the best available stock can shorten the time needed to
bring a loft to the point of expected success but an ever vigil
mindset must be followed. Once you have an established program
cull even harder, accept only the very best and stop importing
outside of your gene pool not even from the same family. Tony
offered a reward of a pair of birds once for any idea that would
save feed in his Crown Breeding System. My idea pleased him and
he would have full filled his promise, except I turned him down.
I turned him down because I had an established bloodline and did
not want to contaminate my effort even with birds from the
strain I am working with.
I do appreciate all the kind words from my pears and friends but
I urge everyone to always question advice from any source.
Learn, then decide for yourself what works best for you and your
loft.

Thom touched on something that I struggle to articulate. Good
birds such as 644D or 514 or 226 or etc. are great for what they
produce at that moment in time but shouldn't be the 'end all' of
a program.
While I appreciate what Pensom did for Rollers with 514, she
wasn't the only bird he bred from. Neither was 644D Tony's only
stock bird. At times I think individual birds are put on an
unnecessarily high pedestal. They are good and that is to the
breeder's credit, however they are just a step on a long
journey.
