high and low

We have been a little low here on the farm this past week.
Thanksgiving Day, Sadie, our dog of 13yrs. had trouble getting
up and walking, by Monday she was taken to her vet and our
friend had to be humanely put to sleep, as the vet said cancer
had spread to her spine and she was surely suffering. Now we
have a farmer's sensibility to be sure, but when my husband of
6'5'' cries like a youngun' with his dog in his arms, it was
almost more than I could take.
Yesterday, Rufus Donaldson brought my husband and I, ten pair of
good birds with the agreement that we would give him twenty
young birds from the pairings. Today, when I returned home, my
husband had made some new perches and nest boxes for the new
arrivals, and he had the smallest of smiles on his face. Now I
know pigeons are not known as man's best friend, but they sure
have a way of helping him through some dark patches. I don't
believe Mr. Rufus could ever know that his gift came at just the
right time. I can only hope now that we do a good job with the
birds and please him with the return trade. Anyway, I know this
is a little long winded, but all an' all I felt it worth the
tellin'. :-[

:( Buttertup I am sorry for your & your husbands loss of your
young dog of 13 years and good luck with the generous gift of
the pairs of pigeons looks like you and he (lol)yours, more than
his pigeons are off to a good start not easy to get started
but ounce started it is a fun road ahead (lol&l)- lots of luck &

It is hard to lose a friend and it is hard to understand some
times how our little four legged pets become just that are best
friends they are always there when we need them and love us more
then anything.
I am sorry for your familys loss good luck with your new birds I
am sure they will be great and I know you will do well with them

Buttertup,
I am sorry to hear about your loss my friend, I hope you and
your husbands spirits are some how lifted by the gift of rollers
and the coming holiday season! Losing a friend is never easy,
especially when they love you regardless of what kind of day
they have had. I have never met an animal I didn't like, but I
have met far to many people I don't really care for, so I feel
your loss!
And don't worry about posting such "highs and lows" of life on
here, I appreciate you feeling us worthy of this particular
story one! ; )

posted if you can!
