Winter breeding/flying

I have three young birds that hatched late, one is fully grown
and two are 2 days old. I know the babies would freeze in this
weather so I will be hand-raising them. I would really like to
fly these birds so I know how good they are but since three
birds isn't really a kit, I thought about letting one of my
pairs breed (perhaps using fosters) so I have more to fly. What
do you think I should do? Do you fly in the winter? :-\ Thanks,

With only one pair it will take you a while even using fosters
but if they are realy good birds it would be worth it. Every
thing I was told is three pair of fosters to every one pair of
breeders.
As far as fling in the winter it all depends where you are at
how bad are your bop the coopers are bad around here this year

If you're worried about these chilling and dying, are you going
to raise all the rest of the babies you breed this winter by
hand too? If you have to hand rear them all is it worth having
more just now anyway?
I fly all winter. Its hard to start young right when its cold,
you have to feed so much just to keep weight on them that its
hard to build good flying/trapping habits.
The bigger question, is can you fly them or will you just be
feeding the predators? Lots of places around the US have severe
BOP problems through the winter. If you have lots of hawks right
now, you would be better to wait to breed til the sky is safer
for young birds just learning to fly.

hay joe,
i mate my birds the week of thanksgiving and they do pretty good
in the winter time and if the weather is warn enough and not
snowing and then if the bop ain't bad so i can go out to watch
then i fly them but this year been cold and snowy and the bop
are bad this year so i'm not flying them this year and what ever
what do with the young will be ok donnie james p.s. i haven't
built a stock loft yet and the birds are already mated and i
been putting dummy eggs under them so the wouldn't raise any
late hatches so i let them lay a while back and i already got 6
young birds and 4 of them is to be weinded out in the nest
couple of days .
