Region 1D Finals, NBRC National Championship

       Guys,
I put my birds up for Joe Emberton yesterday morning, in the
finals fly for the National Championship.. Calm, clear, high
pressure dome in place, cold (36 degrees). The birds came out
with an excellent work rate and doin' it right...on track for
the usual 4-500 points that this kit can score.....8 breaks in
       the first quarter, including a 12, a 9, and some 8s....1.5 Q and
1.5 D, which I was very satisified with. Then they went flat and
flew like homers for the next 15 minutes! In five minutes they
       earned 191 points for around 5th or 6th place, I think......I
blame it on the weather change, cold nights and heavy body
molt....not sure I could have done anything to have influenced
them to fly any differently....ever y kit we put up flew for
       fun, flew the same way.

Joe Emberton is a good judge...scored only correct performance
(as it should be)...and a heckuva nice guy. Jay Yandle, Joe Bob
Stuka, Dave Szabatura, Dom Cirri, Steve Meyers, Wendall Carter,
Richie Wisenhart, all on hand for moral support.....I just
needed three more quarters of work out of them to win.... I
believe that I probably over-compensated for the cold nights and
heavy body molt and fed them a little too strong. But it's been
a good year of flying, winning the region in both the WC and the
       NBRC, so I can't complain.
       Cliff

I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather for you, Johnnie.
Don't fly any young birds the day before you compete, and don't
feed your comp team too rich or too much. I've made both
       mistakes! Good luck, my friend!
