Thank you guys for your feedback in regards to
the new way of thinking concept. Your reactions were as expected
except for one individual. However, I have received several
emails and few phone calls with excellent feedback. They wished
not to post so they won’t be ridiculed. I have different views
than yours and I think the “Bell Curve System” concept will
catch on in due time.
My view is the audience of this site was not the
proper audience for new change or new ideas. As always, when I
post something or publish articles of value, I post it to PRDC
first in a way of appreciation to Tony and of a way saying thank
you for his contribution to the hobby. After talking with Tony,
there are other methods to get it to as many eye balls as
possible. Thanks for your responses.
I didn’t see anybody taking my challenge!! All
what I read is couple of lines for each post about embracing the
old way but no reasons provided to advantage/disadvantage and
why. No need to go any further, I hate to embarrass any of you.
Thanks again for your contribution.

In case you missed it, my response to your system is on the
thread you posted it wing styles. I gave explaination to each
point I felt wasn't workable. I have been dipomatic in my
responses, I gave consideration to your suggestions, taking
several days to digest them and think about how each could be
applied and its strengths and weaknesses. I certainly dont think
I have ridiculed anyone or belittled their opinions, including
yours. Im sorry my input wasnt considered beneficial to you or
that you didnt agree with it. Its ok to disagree and have
differences of opinions.
I wonder what audience to you consider the "proper" one? Only
the audience that agrees with you? This site is full of roller
enthusiats both experienced and new. Submit it for publication
in NBRC bulletin, then all club members can read it, they're
the ones it could potentially affect anyhow. Bob is always
asking for more articles to publish.
I dont think the system we use is so broken. It has worked well
for 15 yrs and more. The biggest fault it has, is the second
guessing of judges calls afterwards. This is something the
system you propose wont stop either. I offer the following as
minor clarification (bolded) to the system that has served us
well;
It is preferable for the region to furnish a timekeeper/scribe
for the judge.
If only the flyer and judge are present, the judge shall keep
time/score. The judge shall estimate and record the number of
birds for each scorable break. A break shall be considered
scorable anytime it is determined that 5 or more birds initiate
rolling from the kit, simultaneously and perform at or above
minimum scorable quality and for depth of 10 or more feet or
equivalent duration.
Afterwards, the judge shall multiply those numbers by 1 for
(5-9), 2 for (10-14), 3 for (15-19)
and 5 for 20.(I prefer a graduated scale, but I'll save that
debate for another time) Those results shall be added together
to produce a raw score.
Next, the raw score shall be multiplied by a quality factor of
1.0 for minimally scorable to 2.0 for “truly phenomenal” based
upon the judges overall impression of the average quality in all
the scored breaks. A roll shall be considered minimally
scoreable when; wings are in any X form or better, AND rotations
are sufficiently fast enough as to not be countable, AND the
birds commence and exit the roll in a clean manner, without
glitches. The raw score shall be multiplied by a factor of 1.0
to 2.0 for the avg depth of birds scored in breaks. 10 ft is
minimum scorable depth or equivalent duration. (I like a scale
from 10-60 by 5's, when we start getting a rash of kits
averaging 60' we may have to extend the 2.0 standard) Birds
performance which is not scored in breaks should not be
considered in applying these multipliers.
A group of 5 birds is the minimum number that can score, if the
remainder of the kit are returning directly from a roll AND
there is no more than 1 bird considered out. (see definition of
'birds out').
The judge shall announce the multipliers after time has expired
and before tabulating the raw score. The judge shall announce
the final score before leaving.

any of you." -Jay
If this was pointed at me, embarass away, it wouldnt be the
first time!

I want to thank you Jon for taking the time and your effort. You
really have done an excellent job explaining. Proper audiance
used to convey a divers of shared dialog by many rather than
only couple of people participating. I did not know you
responded to the other thread. Thanks.
