Cullable Offense?

Young bird has stumped me for a couple weeks. It rolls about
5' but then has to work to return to the kit. This morning I
finally figured out what was happening.
At the end of the roll it does this one wing flip thing that
ends up with it going the wrong direction of the kit so it has
to swing around to catch up.
It is almost 7 months old and no other faults at this point.
Should I cull now or wait to see if it cleans up it's roll?

Hey Mark, Once removed it is hard to glue back! Don't be in a
rush to judgement. If it is not teaching others bad habits such
as tree sitting or landing early or not kitting, then have
patience. It only eats 1 1/2 tablespoons a day or so! :) I never
make that judgement except for the above mentioned faults until
they are in their second season.

I wouldnt worry about it, ... for now. Keep flying it and enjoy
the fact that you have birds rolling over your loft. Like Thom
said its hard to get them breathing again once they've quit.
My opinion is that young birds will often try to fight the roll
and end up doing some wing switching. Some, as they mature gain
confidence and things clean up, others ..., well they dont and
will always roll with a fault. If it becomes a persistant
behaviour, then you will know for sure what you have and can
make a better informed decision. I will tell you that
wingswitching is a very heritable trait, I know from experience.
I recomend whether or not you keep flying it, dont breed from it
if the condition persists.
Im glad that you recognize what its doing and that you dont like
it. Keep your eye on the prize (being great rollers without
faults) and you will find success. Just dont forget to enjoy the
journey too.

Watch it and if it starts to pull others out, Pull it and let
the others fly and they should go back to the kit. After a week
put it back in the kit. If it still does the same thing,Cull.
