       Blur or H style

Hi All, In your own opinion, which do ya think is better quality
blur or H style, or are they the same? I have seen birds with
nice H style rolls but have never seen a bird thats a blur!

Hey George, The easy answer would be blur but I think a blur is
all about speed. I raised one cock I would classify as a blur
but I never could say for sure if it was no wings showing to my
tired old eyes or a really fast "H" style. I would take a kit of
       ether and smile!
       Take care my friend

I like both but in my opinion the H style could actually be the
better quality, combining decent speed with balance. The blur
could be a combination of speed with a high X roll or speed with
a bit of a wobble. Speed is able to hide faults.

I agree with all points birdman. I favor a clean, smooth,
straight up-down H. A blur can be one of several wing styles
with speed, and often is slightly out of balance, hence the
blurring effect. The blurs Ive seen made me think it was a
violent roll, uncontrolled, disorganized. Whereas perfect clean
H left just the opposite impression, absolute control, order,
       symetry.

Speed with balance gives that fluid, ball bearing smooooth roll.
That's what I aim for in regard to quality ;D .

Haha... thnks for the posts guys. So can a roller with an H
style roll possess the blur affect then or no? My guess is
no... cuz a fast H style then would just be smooth and
       balanced?? Jus asumptions lol...

Hey Thom I probably would've love to seen your cock bird roll
with a blur or infact any bird roll with blur. That way i can
say i too have witness the blur affect ;D .

in my opinion the blurr is the best you can get and then high
"H" and the "H" and then high "X" and the "X" and the blurr is
       fast speed ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,donnie james

The blur is a factor of speed and style. When I judge rollers I
consider speed is a subset of quality and a subset of depth. I
break down speed in three categories (average, super and
superior). When you have H bird spin and you see the
circumfernce of the wings duing the spin, the speed is average.
When you see no wing, then it is super and when the bird becomes
blur, then the speed is superior. I add to the quality and depth
multipliers the weighted numbers for each speed category factor.
Average speed is .00, super is from .01 to .02, and superior is
from .03 to .04. I hope this can help you.

       Jay

How does the speed of rotation, the wing style or position; have
anything to do with the depth a roller falls or the duration of
       the spin?

The multipliers for Quality and for Depth are independant of one
another. One is for the average quality of the birds scored in
the turns and the other is for the average depth. I dont
understand how you are connecting the 2 factors?
