Never done it but I know some young guys that couldn't bear to
do it humanely that did just that. Enough mindless banter!! My
last post on this subject unless someone has something
meaningful to post.

befor anyone culls , i would advise to learn the differance of
bad mangement from what a cull really is .

So what some of you are saying is; before you would add some
antibiotics to the drinking water you would twist the neck of
the great 514 hen? :o
Cull a lame bird, YES. Cull a sick bird, NO not without a
fighting chance.

Hi John, I am not sure that everyone understands and truly
appreciates the value of such a bird like a "514". Too many
flippant responses. This indicates to me they likely never
actually have had a pre-potent bird before and do not realize
the impact such a bird can have over years, even decades. 8)

To All: On a different note, I will say this one time, stop
trying to win a debate with nothing more than your opinion and
being clever. :-\ Back up what you say with facts and figures
or years of experience, I do not like the bickering between
individuals site members who have little experience in the hobby
vs long time fanciers. If you want to argue the point from
ignorance, you will be banned. Simple. I don't have time to
monitor every dispute. Its easier for me and the site to let you
go. The site will survive your absence. ;)
If you feel you need to argue this with me, that will be your
last post here. If I can ban Scott Campbell for a year, I can
certainly ban you too. Thank you for your cooperation! ;D

Hi Paul, no, you were not set up. I explained in my initial post
to start this thread that you merely inspired the thought in me.
I did not blame you or set you up. Come on Paul, you know me
better than that. :D New ideas are generated all the time
through general discussion, that I gave you credit for the
inspiration is a primary feather in your cap... :D

John, As I said earlier, if you can isolate, diagnose and treat
the bird successfully then by all means give it a try. If you
can not do that, you could be risking all the birds in your
loft. Is it really worth the gamble. Personally, I don't think
so but that is just my opinion based on many years of trying to
save ill or injured birds.

Thanks Tony...........I guess I just jumped the gun, so to
speak. I will retract my comment about the set up thing. But,
as I read the post from Clint, we are talking about a "sick"
bird and nothing else. I "just" don't mess around with "sick"
birds..... period....
Iam not trying to set anyone "OFF".. I don't preach this to
anyone. It's just my belief..
I also agree with joeb's "Personal" opinion in his last post .

i,ve doctored many sick birds over the yrs. not many come to
mind made it and not many that made it where not culled in the
end for one reason ot the other.... i will do what i can but not
at the expence of loseing more... for some odd reason this yr.
i,ve lost 5 or 6 young after i put them in the kit box , there
nest mate did fine and they died ??
